am I crazy or do both the HWRF and HMON show the worst of the wind getting stuck in the gulf during landfall?

Neither of those models do well with wind over land.

What is the truth about its windspeed right now? They are calling it a major but last night they could not find a wind above 106 mph.

Most deductibles for hurricanes are for the season. If you met the deductible for Laura and if you have damage this time around, no money out of your pocket.

I don’t think NHC wanted to drop from a 145mph Cat. 4 straight down to a Cat. 2 due to one recon flight. Probably afraid people would interpret that as meaning Delta was totally falling apart.

Why does the weather channel go straight to NOLA when a hurricane is on its way to LA. Even if NOLA isn’t in trouble. Like LA has a ton more cities than New Orleans. Damn. The caption under the guy talking says “Nola on alert!”

Looks like we’re going to get a daytime landfall after all. Landfall around noon or so am the storm near BR by sunset.

Most of the country knows Nola. Much much fewer people know Lafayette and the surrounding areas. People will tune in if they see Nola impact, but not New Iberia impact.

The same reason all the coverage for Katrina was for NO and not Harrison and Hancock counties that got completely flattened.
