I was referencing the Oklahoma optometry surgical courses

It never comes on a ballot. It's all lobbied behind the scenes without the public's input. You'll never get to vote

Well I was saying that as more a figure of speech, saying I'd support my rep being for it.
I don't mind going to the office and checking up with a NP and having her write whatever refills I need or sent me for whatever ankle X-ray that needs to be administered. Have always been satisfied with any care I've received from one. I know it's all anacdotal. I think I have the wherewithal to make a decision to go to someone with more expertise depending on possible other circumstances.

Nobody addressed the midwives

How you're gonna go thru life and never call a doctor a doctor I'm trying to figure out. I'm not sure where all the pent up anger comes from but it's really ok

You won't get to vote because it's all under the table. And if those midwives snip your ureter accidentally in that uterus surgery they'll learn in a weekend course you will be unable to tinker

The sad part is you really think their education and training is a weekend course.
How a physician can be so disrespectful to a vital part of the Healthcare system (Nurses) is beyond me.

Devil's advocate here- What makes it "obviously infected" and the average layperson able to distinguish that?
I meant more when another healthcare provider was who brought it to the physicians attention. Yeah I can definitely appreciate people coming in with their internet knowledge claiming to know everything haha

Insecurity plain and simple. If someone is happy with their job, position in life, income, etc. they aren't going to get all pissed off bc some stranger doesn't "respect them."

To my knowledge, the midwives have no training in surgically opening up the pelvis. There are surgical weekend courses that optometrists take was my point - they use that as an argument for wanting to do surgery

How did the ophthalmologists first learn to do lasik? I remember those weekend courses in Florida too.

I appreciate your fanatic display for the Louisiana SB 187 topic, but your arguments TOTALLY disagree with what you have been arguing. You express displeasure with others using the title doctor when they have done the work to gain such distinction. Your demeaning the efforts of other healthcare professionals leads me to believe that while you argue against a NP gaining additional responsibilities in the state or others calling themselves doctor, you are not a physician as you have led on in this thread.
I also am not in favor of Louisiana SB 187. I STRONGLY believe that all non-physician healthcare professionals should work under the auspices of a physician through a collaborative practice agreement, whether in the clinic setting or under protocols in a hospital setting. I have covered in the past three years in Nevada and NP in the state do not work under a physician. I have not seen any negative outcomes from a NP patient presenting to the ER.
But, to post some of the items that you have in this thread is a joke and clearly indicates you are not a physician. Perhaps you are in pre-med chemistry or pre-med biology with the hopes of one day becoming a physician or maybe currently in medical school and that is fine. But, you should not present yourself as a physician when you are not while calling out other healthcare providers who have doctor in their titles.
I have spoken to the state senator (who voted in favor of the bill) and the representative from my district to express my opposition to this bill.
I am out of this discussion.

I work down at the pizza pit, I drive an old Hyundai. I still live with my mom and dad, I'm 5'3" and overweight. I'm a scifi fanatic, a mild asthmatic...
But on a more serious note, it seems some of you got your feathers ruffled. I apologize if that is so. The concern of this thread is for patient safety. I think if you look back you'll find I've been considerably more civil than most of the participants here.
Sometimes people get offended by the truth.
