If you don't want patients to get confused, then maybe you should refer to yourself as a physician, rather than a doctor. The term doctor was around before you douchebag MDs.

Plus they let people like dentist use it too.

Where's the cost savings in that?

You're not understanding. Neuro sends patient to her with script. Wife will establish plan of care and based on situation will send back to neuro for additional testing.

I was responding to his claim that PTs are trying to operate outside their scope.

He isn't the one separating PT diagnosis from medical diagnosis. This has been delineated for years. PT claim forms submitted for reimbursement require a PT diagnosis.

PT billing codes are tied to PT diagnoses.

MD makes the diagnosis of disease

PT makes the diagnosis of movement dysfunction: stiffness, contracture of joint, pain, abnormal gait, impaired balance, deconditioning ------as it relates to the medical diagnosis.

Most people (other than PTs) don't know about this as I have described it, and I respect the sanctity of the medical diagnosis and those who make them.

Ok, and the PhD doctorate was around before MDs. MDs do not own the title of doctor. Refer to yourself as a physician and you won't have issues. You won't see PTs claiming to be physicians.

but if a patient has an issue that is within the scope of practice of a PT, that patient should and now can go straight to the PT and the PT can treat suchl

Correct. I have back pain that flares up when I play golf. Earlier this year I had to go to my family med doc to get seen by them for 3 minutes to get a script to go to PT.

I'd bet some algorithms are already more accurate than him. And I'd guarantee all have more people skills than him.

Many studies have found the diagnostic accuracy of physicians to be dismal at best, many other studies have indicated that listening to the patient can go a long way to improving outcomes. It is a age old problem that even after much focus is not changing. I will be the first to say I can't wait for a kiosk where I can enter my problem and know that at least the system has listened to me.

Being in health care and calling yourself doctor is deceptive if you did not do med school

Every aspect of medicine gets a doctorate degree -- it's laughable. What's the difference in training between PTs with masters and those with doctorates?

What about DDS? Why are you okay with dentists using the term, but not other healthcare professionals who didn't attend med school?
