Every power line in the area would be down, many structures would have issues with the weight of that ice and the number of insurance claims from tree limbs hitting houses and cars would be biblical.

We got around 2 inches of ice in 2009 with the ice storm and had negative wind chill temps on the other end.

We didn't have power for close to two weeks. I don't wish that on anyone. It would be a nightmare scenario further South.

NWS Atlanta is starting to get on board with this. Now showing 20% chance of snow showers for my area northeast of the city on Tuesday.

Thanks, darling. It’s hard to tell based on his post history, though.

It snowed here (DFW airport) for like 2 hours, then cold rain for the rest of the event. I was so sad.

Weird. Snowed huge flakes here for 6-7 hours straight then we got a little sleet.

I suppose mid-20s is like, save time/energy and don’t even bother covering the plants?

Low temp forecasts from the models will be a mess leading up to next week because there's a big positive feedback loop that starts when the model thinks there's ice on the ground.

It's gonna be cold though. Biggest thing is that temps stay near freezing for now.

Thats what frustrating about temps in the mid-20's. Atleast if its going to be in the teens you know what you need to do. With the last freeze I'm pretty sure I wasted a bit of effort on what ended up be only 27*

Is this why the Canadian model keeps thinking we’re getting down to the negative teens in Nashville? It’s been showing that the last few model runs

looks like I will be getting the makings for a big pot of chili this weekend and say bring on the winter weather next. I am worried that if it gets really bad here in Bham, and my dad passes I won't be able to get to them. upshot is a fire station is across the street from my folks apartment, so that is a good thing.

Last two GFS runs has showed less ice/sleet. We'll have to see if the EURO and Canadian follow.
