Cantore going down the hill on the sled in Houston was actually pretty funny. Got some distance and sparks flew as he went over the sidewalk.

Baton Rouge will flirt with single digits tonight. Post-1900 record snow and maybe a post-1900 record low in the same event. I don’t trust the 1800s reports.

The snow is over in my area of Old Metairie but I just want to say thanks to everyone in this thread for the updates.

I’ve been through many hurricane threads, but never a snow one. I would have completely downplayed this if it weren’t for the constant models and updates in here.

This is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. My street looks like I woke up in Lake Tahoe. Almost a foot of snow coating everything.

I’m super jealous of you guys. I’m not sure that you can get any better than y’all got if you are a southern snow lover. You got to enjoy the snow during daylight and then the duration. Very rare stuff. When we got our big snow here in Shreveport/Bossier 4 years ago, it happened mostly at night. We woke up to it, which was nice, but nothing like your experience. Everyone will remember this for the rest of their lives that went through it. Congratulations!

This has probably been asked, so if it has, just link me to the question and I'll look at the responses.

We're looking at a low chance of things opening Thursday, right?

It's getting down to like 12-13 tonight with 4-6" of snow here. That show will be solid ice by morning. It is going to get into the mid-high 30s tomorrow for a few hours, but there's no way it melts all of that ice, right? So there will still likely be ice all over Thursday morning, right?

It just seems like we didn't get enough sun/time above freezing today and won't tomorrow either

With the sun blasting it'll heat the roads up a fair bit. I think most will open Thursday, just not first thing in the morning .

As the sun sets exit stage left on the day, the feeling is surreal. Yet somehow it belongs. A thick white blanket covers all that can be seen. I may never again see this in my lifetime, as long as I live in Louisiana. It may not be a record snowfall, but it is most certainly a record for me and many. We feast on gumbo inside, and sip on bourbon. With no doubt the white blanket will greet us in the morning, I am happy with nowhere to go. It is as if the Lord has pressed the pause button of my life. Much needed. I shall not forget this day for all time.

I was thinking the same. My 8mth old little girl couldn’t be out for long, but it was fun to see her eyes light up for a brief time and watch my dog enjoy the weather he is bred to endure. While I didn’t spend a ton of time outside, a warm house, no work emails, and a long nap with my baby made this a special day for me. It also reconnected me to some friends and family that I don’t talk to every day or every week.

I want to go back out but I've been out in it all day. And Id have to put on pants.

Sipping bourbon with windows open instead to see it. Maybe before bed I'll sit out for a bit and take it all in.

Will freeze again tomorrow and then should start thawing out pretty good mid morning on Thursday. I’d say roads will be safe to travel then, at best.

Yeah I’m not completely sold on this. Euro is keeping most of the area below freezing or right at freezing. Need the sun to do its job
