Arctic Air mass SCOURING the northern Gulf

Yeah if it stays clear it should go down to the upper teens in BR. Some possibility of a few clouds overnight keeping it above 20?

Crazy to see that image. The wind today in BR has been brutal.

I don't particularly hate the cold, I can deal with it. I would like some of my humidity back, please. Today is the first time I've used chapstick since I don't know when.

You’re lucky. My lips get chapped easily. I’ve been burning thru chapstick all day.

Now let’s not get crazy - lack of humidity keeping us from truly freezing to death

I don't need it all back. Just some of it.

A persistent wind will play a factor in keeping temps in BR above 20°.
If it were to die off with clear skies, watch out!

I have more of an issue with dry skin under my nose and on the edges of it where it meets my cheeks. Gotta load up on the gold bond lotion every in the dry windy cold

Man, Buffalo looks like a Winter armageddon. People stranded in their vehicles in zero mile visibility with temps that are still plummeting.

So what does "zero mile" visibility look like? Well, here's a spectacular view of our parking lot near the airport. Yes, there are cars parked just a few feet away.

We don't even want to be parked in it, you *definitely* don't want to be driving in it. Seriously.

Currently steady wind of 55 with a 70mph gust coming off the lake straight into Buffalo.

Believe it or not , and this may be an idiotic theory, but I'm thinking
My heat issue was the result of my nest thermostat not having an internet connection
From about 6 pm last night til about 7 am this morning therefore not knowing The temp outside and therefore not knowing to use the "alternate heat" instead of the normal heat for that period then somehow either freezing up or overwhelming the normal system

Not sure yet if that's what it was but it's been working perfectly for like 7 hours now

There's actually no way to directly tell a nest thermostats to use emergency heat, you have to go into its settings and change the temp threshold to "all the time" to make it do it

fricking technology

TVA should have warned customers yesterday that rolling blackouts were going to be their gift to us this Christmas.

I know they've doubled back on the blackouts since but I was surprised by their lack of advanced warning as well

Everyone has known this was coming

Extreme #blizzard stranding motorists Downtown Buffalo. Family here stranded 7 hours a block from shelter.
@bclemms and I escorted to shelter. Seems like survival situations playing out a block or two away in whiteout. Worst blizzard I have ever covered

The aftermath of the Buffalo blizzard is unreal. They had blizzard conditions for nearly 40 hours. People have been stranded, and the last update I heard was 17 dead and over 500 rescue operations with at least one emergency baby delivery. I saw a video of some kids/teens finding an older guy dead on the snow.

They had long duration winds of 50+ with gusts of over 70. In many towns roads haven't been able to be cleared. A driving ban was put in place, but people have still gotten out. They're still getting off and on lake effect snow with rates of 2-3"/hr.

This video of a home near the lake is wild. It is covered in massive icicles.
