You should go to HI during whale season and go underwater and listen, eerie sounding but very cool

My sister (no pics) lives on puget sound. She can see whales from her house pretty regularly. They had one come up and hang out in the nearby marina for a while.

While serving on a submarine, junior sailors man a fathometer (until we reach the continental shelf) which basically shoots sound waves to the bottom measuring the time it takes to reverb back up. You can hook up hydrophones and listen to the sea life. It's incredibly noisy and came as a shock the first time I heard it. Very cool experience.
