Deadspin was a pretty great place to catch up on the cool sports stuff that I missed from the previous day/weekend.

Cool videos of sick plays from professional, college, and even high school games.
Also had some interesting back stories, trash talk, and fights between fans, players, coaches, managers, whatever.

Now that Gawker has been shut down for being a shitty site, all of the trash political writers from Gawker are being employed by Deadspin, and it's really sad that they can't help but ruin a great site in order to continue to push their liberal BS.

It's sad, these changing times.

I've enjoyed their post election melt. Drew Magary must be nothing but a puddle of hack by now

There is only so many ESPN sucks takes you can write.

They got pretty full of themselves after the T'eo story.

Thankfully, we have Larry Leo to fill the void...

It's been wonderful. Their shtick pre election was teetering on too much to handle but their melt afterwards has been wonderful. I still follow them on Twitter just for the melt.

Barstool Sports is the way to go for the non-ESPN sports stuff that it seems like you're describing.

I agree, Chicken.
Everyone should just use Tigerdroppings.

On their homepage right now 12 out of 13 stories are about current events in sports, the other is a story inviting users to send in stories about bad stuff they've done as a child.

The Concourse is a sub-site from Deadspin where all the political stuff is. Sometimes their stories are published to the main page.

Maybe Breitbart can start a sports page for you? Now that their man is in power and their side controls Congress, I'm not sure what else they'll write about for the next few years.

And they twisted and turned that story five ways to Sunday.

I am a pretty cynical guy and would be the first to tell you that there are plenty of bad actors (read: Prince Shembo, Brian Kelly, Luke Petigout, etc.) involved with Notre Dame football, but I really do think Te'o was malevolently cat-fished. Everything I'd ever heard about and seen from the kid was that he was a good kid, if not quite a bit of a sheltered Mormon, and he's kept his head down since going to the NFL. Deadspin twisted and implicated the hell out of that story. Linking to Deadspin was banned on quite a few ND sites after that whole saga. Funnily enough, we now have a partnership with them.

no it wasn't. it was a bunch of limp wristed social justice warriors mixing sports and politics and a lot of times, just doing politics

their tone was vitriolic and smug. millennial social justice figs ruined sports. I don't watch sports at all and 10 years ago, I watched any and all sports.

They beat a dead horse with it. We all love a good Norte dame hate circle jerk but they couldn't let it go. I was all in on that story and read deadspin a decent bit at that time.

It just grew to the point where I felt bad for teo and wanted the story to die. It stopped being funny when they were fricking with his future for something that in hindsight wasn't that big of a deal.

He got catfished, lied, media ran wild and he was too socially awkward to handle the shitstorm. It was a pathetic situation, not the evil plot that deadspin wanted it to be.

Yeah, I knew my time having Deadspin as a bookmarked sport site was ending when Gawker's political coverage merged with Deadspin. The only redeeming quality of Deadspin now are the non-political witty comments for sport articles. Otherwise it's a progressive SJW trasheap that reaks of smugness. I'd recommend Barstool though. It's been my go-to recently for sports/pop culture blogs.

As a daily Deadspin and Kotaku reader, it takes everything I have to not troll the shite out of every anti-Trump article posted on the site.

I'll do it once or twice a week but then I realize how fricking dumb some of those people are and just can't keep it up.
