FRANKLIN, La. (KLFY)- A new, deadly drug is being found in Louisiana for the first time. Officials say the drug is so powerful, just touching it could kill you. They’re calling this super drug “gray death.” “The public recognizes a lot of the drugs that we deal with. This is a new one,” David Spencer, spokesperson for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office said. “Gray death” is heroin that has been cut with Fentanyl, according to Spencer, and it is deadly. “Be aware of the color. It looks like chunks of concrete,” Spencer warned.

Feel bad for the bastard that thinks it's charcoal and tosses it into the grill.
Imagine that cookout

except it could be any color, which makes it even more deadly. a photo insinuating to be more mindful of gray heroin is stupid.

Also who is just going around touching random street drugs?

How does a junkie successfully take a drug that's so deadly it can kill you if you touch it?

heroin mixed with fent isn't anything new, especially in the south. I guess they figured it needed a scary sounding name

That's one way to get the heroin addicts off the streets.

This story has all the earmarks of sensationalism.

Heroin with fentanyl is not new to Louisiana.

If there is something new about this drug, maybe just the name or the color or the binding agent, etc. the news story doesn’t say.

Is the news agency hyping this or is it the Sheriffs Office? Unfortunately, it could be both.

I've never even seen heroin. When did it become so widespread? The past 10-15 years?

The Freakonomics podcast has a two part series about how Perdue Pharma caused the opioid crisis by getting pain reclassified as a vital sign so that they could sell the heck out of their OxyContin.

It’s worth a listen.

Exactly. The average person just shakes their head at the junkies and then shrugs.

Druggies start getting the hot sweats just thinking about the high they’ll get.

This is like free advertising for the drug dealers.

Right. But, if this "gray death" is what is on the streets, how is a fledgling doper able to even build a tolerance?

Narcan saving them from initial overdoses helps them build a tolerance?

That isn't the only form of opiate on the streets. Far from it.

Anyone at the stage of shooting heroin is bad off and has a high opiate tolerance. You don't just take a few pain pills then suddenly start mainlining heroin. Those that shoot too much or too potent overdose.
