Farming ops releasing the required number once the reach right size is dramatically skewing the juvenile mortality rate.

La has more gators than the next 2 states combined

He jumped out and dragged the damn thing by its tail. It was still cool and early in the day, so the gator was sluggish enough not to react much.

Giant lizards. I don't know why people fear them. They are scared of humans.

Almost hit one the other day. Over population in my opinion. Need to extend the season.

My understanding as well. Markets are down. No incentive to hunt them. So the population swells.

FTR, have seen dead gators along I-10 and Sauvage and US90 even in good markets.

Why are there so many dead alligators on the way to New Orleans from Baton Rouge?

I saw a 13 footer in person. I was amazed and just how tall the damn thing was. It was one of the few times that I have felt that ancient, primal fear in my gut.

Louisiana has way more alligators than Florida. Reason why Florida has so many human interactions is because they have way more people.

And because their people, on the whole, are generally more idiotic and not as tough. Our people don’t try to pet/touch them and keep distance, and if they aren’t doing that they are shooting them.

As stated earlier, it’s their mating season. The bigger males become very aggressive and will often eat smaller gators. The smaller ones move out of necessity to survive and the larger ones move while looking for some action.

That part of I-10 is in the middle of a swamp/marsh full of alligators.
