There is a huge statue inside the memorial. I expect it to be ripped down any day.
Not sure if serious...that statue is about 175 tons. To take it down would require real work....and I don't think the the crowd that would want it down are the "roll up your sleeves and get it done" crowd

My history teacher back in high school the 1990s, who was African American btw, predicted that all this was going to happen. She said there was going to come a day when all those Confederate statues in New Orleans and the rest of the South were going to be torn down by misguided people that were taught a revisionist version of the civil war. She blamed it partially on political correctness but mainly on the way history books were starting to tell the story of the civil war and slavery as well. She said all the history books were published in the north and with each new edition they were more and more telling the Yankee version of the story and less of the entire story of the civil war, and that Yankees love trying to make southerners look like dumb racist rednecks and like making themselves look like heroes. She also said the same publishing companies are scared to death to put anything in their books that may hurt African American kids' feelings. That combination was going provide a modified version of that time period and produce a generation of misguided people.

Could be a diversion. Get the Guard troops to concentrate there and go wreck something else. I mean, it is weird that they would announce this. It's obviously some kind of manipulation or provocation, possibly wanting to get some "stormtrooper" video bites to make themselves look like heroes.
