I'm not white knighting for that white trash tub of lard, I'm just not a fan of prosecutorial overkill and if the judge/prosecution deems this an aceptable punishment given the information they have, then I'm inclined to believe the right decision was made here.

The fact that my opinion, based on the testimony of an expert, is baseless, while your bottom line opinion that a two month old should not be in daycare because apparently that's a deadly decision is a solid point in your mind makes me pity you.

My wife and I put our daughter in daycare at 2 months old, when her maternity leave ran out. What are you supposed to do then? Quit work? Leave the child alone at home? Take the baby to work?

I mean a 3 month old certainly would be better developed, there's no question. I'd say 6 months, 4-6 months, would be an ok time for day care. I'm not the only one who thinks that, it's a pretty widely accepted range, google if you don't believe me.
Yes I understand that not everyone can afford to miss work because maternity leave is only like 6 weeks usually, and yes I understand that if a day care center accepts children at such a young age they should be held responsible. But ultimately common sense dictates that 2 months is just too young to entrust your child to that kind of environment, that's not some totally wackadoo notion.

We live 3+ hours away from family we would trust with our daughter, at that game. And hiring a sitter is just the same as day care. The day care at least, well should, do background checks. If a daycare accepts a child at 2 months of age, they should be able to care for the child.

The context of how you are bringing this up as a point implies that you think that you think the parents are to blame for the trauma that killed the infant. It's inappropriate. 2 months seems ideally too young for daycare to me too. But blaming anything besides the person who actually caused the physical trauma is crazy and insulting.
