Always heard back in the day he took a percentage of the bar sales as well as his fee to play a show. He didn’t like AC and would make more money cause more drinks were sold in a hot bar / club.

Tried to see him at Texas Club in late 80’s. Sammy Kershaw opened for him. DAC performed a 15 min magic show then left. Sammy came back on and sung a bunch of DAC songs.

The KA’s brought him in to play at their house. But demand was so high they moved it to the assembly center. I believe they had to get him a bucket of fried chicken too.

DAC used to play live in Baton Rouge periodically when I was at LSU. His “Underground” album is one of the anthems of my younger days. Still got that CD in the console of my. Truck!

Kind of. His reasoning was with all the lights and shite on stage it’s hot AF. And if he was going to be hot so were you.

We actually had him come play at the bar I managed. And it came directly from his mouth to my ears “if I’m going to be fricking hot you’re going to be fricking hot.”
He also demanded a case of whiskey to perform. When we gave it to him he loaded it on the bus without opening it and then still had our bartenders feed him drinks nonstop.
