Poor Dave the Duck lives with three females - Dora, Freda and Edith. Owner Josh Watson, 39, noticed that his pecker was infected in October and took him to a local vet who gave antibiotics, painkillers and a daily wash for the 'traumatised' member.

But despite the medicines the problem got worse. Dave the drake refused to curtail his duties and heroically kept on paying way too much attention to his female friends - ten times a day or more with each of the three until the tip turned black and began to die off.

Since his return from Bristol, Dave the duck has been separated from his peers and has made a full recovery after his operation. But Josh says that Dave has 'lost his will' since having his manhood removed.

Josh said: "He's doing well now, he's pretty resilient for a duck. The only drawback is that he has lost his will. I think it makes him pretty upset.

"He tries to pair a lot with his female companions. Every chance he can get. I'd say between five and ten times a day, maybe more.

"It does not stop all year round. In the winter it is meant to calm down. The ducks stop laying eggs, but he doesn't stop mating. He just goes on.

"He tries on every available opportunity, but sometimes he is rejected."
