Hope he had a life insurance policy
Doesn't suicide nullify those?

crazy that he had been with friends earlier in the day
Back when it was 18,my parents were out of town and my friends and I had a big party. We had a blast that night. My buddy even hooked up with the hottest girl there, that he had been after for a while. The next morning, we all woke up, talked about the night before. My buddy was so pumped up about his night of fun with that girl. Everyone went home after that. My buddy went home, grabbed a shotgun, hopped in his parents bed and blew his head off.

There is no explaining what occurs inside a truly depressed persons brain. One of my best friends shot his head off in September 2013. Two sons 12 and 9 and a wife. Very successful guy. But, the demons were too much. His mom, dad and younger brother all committed suicide before he did. Almost like it was inevitable.
It isn't witty or cute to make fun of suicide or depression. His death is something I will never get over.
ETA: I was the last person he spoke to.

Those guys take lots of hard hits to the head. If you watch interviews with some of the older BMX guys, a lot of them are pretty fried from so many hits to the head.

Damn that sucks. I still remember saying bye. An hour later he was dead. Looking back now, being 38,he was just a kid. He had his whole life ahead of him. Valedictorian of his class, academic scholarship at LSU. Just mind boggling

Wow. This is shocking. I follow him on Instagram and all of his posts were so upbeat. He ran marathons and triathlons and was always training and was always with his daughter doing kids marathons....he seemed so happy. RIP to him...such a shame he wasn't what he appeared to be and couldn't get help.

I was flipping through the boob tube and just saw this guy doing a competition less than two weeks ago.

I was playing drinking games with some buddies in the army years ago. One of my friends got up from the table, told everyone goodnight, and immediately hung himself in the stairwell. He never showed a single sign, laughed all night and seemed in a great mood.

Often it is the best and brightest that suffer the most. No way to quantify it, we aren't in their shoes. My friend owned a 20 restaurant chain, a bottled water company, prime Arkansas Delta farming land, a farmers insurance company and a cotton gin.
Our families were tied generationally through marriage and business. Plus, he was a truly great guy. I'd have been his friend without any of the other stuff.

I wonder how many concussions he suffered during his career? CTE could be to blame here. Hopefully they'll do a brain examination.

Usually after 2 years it will still pay out, if not it will return premiums
