Now marrying someone and trying to raise children with different political/societal beliefs/morals doesn't seem like such a great idea.
It just seems to me like you'd be asking for issues down the road.

Morals for sure, but political beliefs
I know several people who have opposite beliefs from a parent, sometimes from both parents and they seem to get along just fine and raise their children and grandchildren to be good people.
Unfortunately, everything seems to be polarizing these days.

Exactly. Even on this website, if you say anything that stereotypically aligns with the other side, you are called a liberal.
It perplexes me that people don't take each issue on a case by case basis and form an opinion that way.

Women like a strong man. They also tend to follow their man if they respect him and his judgement. This why married women politics shift over time from single to married.
All bets are off if their husband is a dweeb and not respected.

The issue with the current left is that it is structurally impossible to find any common ground.
To be fair, this exists on both sides. You can't express an opinion that is not in the "checklist" for your party. Even on this website, any comment on the way Trump conducts himself publicly/on Twitter is downvoted to oblivion in disagreement.
It is possible to vote republican and lean conservative while not agreeing with every single conservative opinion.
Both sides do it. I just had someone start hurling disrespectful insults at me on Instagram for pointing out that children in abusive/neglectful homes need to be in school for their own safety.

Because people are dumb and usually go to the most extreme caricature of who they think you are.

my grandparents were married for 58 years. gdad wore a GOP hat daily, gmother voted democrat. that's how things used to be, people with differences in opinion could be married for 50+ years.

Yep. The thread is whacked now, but I was trying to say this to Lunchbox the other day. I lurk Reddit a good bit, which is basically just as extreme as this website but on the other side. And the similarities between the people here and the people there, just with opposite points of view, are wild.
He said basically the equivalent of "they did it first!" like a kid would do if you caught two kids coloring on the walls or something.
Does it matter who started it? If one side would collectively decide to top acting insane, it would be a great look for their side and they'd probably have a lot of success.

I could see where two moderates with some political differences could make it work.
I don't see how a right winger and a Bernie voter could make it. Maybe that's just me though.

It's time for a our monthly "I might be interested in a doomed relationship" thread.

again it just depends on if they are able to see each other perspectives and respect each other
if you are a hardline conservative and think only a retard could support Bernie, then yeah, it probably wouldn't work

I mean, if you are an avid deer hunter and she's a Peta member y'all might have some issues

Maybe you need to learn how to have a discussion (which includes listening) instead of blurting out your stance.

There is one thing this site does better than Reddit and their subforums: it won't ban you for an unpopular views.

Would not happen in any relationship I ever have.. I make it pretty clear from the start.... “I love sex, rock& roll, and sports.... I don’t do politics”.

If you're trolling gets out of control, then sure, but you'll be back posting 2 months later if you're remotely worth a shite.

well thats the thing, you are allowed to troll certain people all you want, but others are not allowed to be trolled
inconsistent moderating annoys the frick out of me

True. And one thing I will give this site is that you're usually able to get a good discussion going when you're calm and respectful. There are plenty extremists here, but they're not the majority. On Reddit, its the majority.
I've never seen people boycott so many businesses in my life. I don't know how they survive
