That sounds like a personal problem.

don't think an eduation is ever a problem or a waste. I always wanted to be able to support myself. You never know what's going to happen. My mom was a widow with two small children at the age of 28.

I would NEVER put my future in the hands of someone else. I wanted to make sure I could always support myself. My education allows for that. That's not some feminist agenda, that's thinking practically based on life experience.

I think you missed the point

He isn't saying don't get educated. He's saying the time it takes to get educated and gain career traction uses up a lot of a female's biological clock.

A problem men don't have and can avoid by mating with a younger female. This creates a disparity.

Yeah, practically speaking, it is probably more difficult to get degrees and a career than to find a mate with those

No, I got the point. Women have to decide if they want to follow the career track or the baby track.

Problem is, when women choose baby track, they spend that time dating, typically in their age range because those are the men they meet. And quite frankly at 25 I had absolutely no interest in dating someone who was late 30s. At my current age and in the abstract, it's easy to look back on and analyze. In the midst, it's not quite so easy to make that decision.

Your post sounds like you were angry and taking this all personally

At least how I read it.

I meant the whole can't stand women for an hour thing.

Plenty of women around that are fun to be around for more than hour. Don't hang out with the dumb ones.

No, not all. I don't angry about this kind of stuff. But, it is much easier to look back over things and think about the choices I made and would I do things differently, did I want a different outcome. A luxury I have now that I didn't have then.

even if the stats don't create a deficit, they have to invest their best childbearing years in school and starting a career by that 32-35 era, they have to decide if they want kids or a career (b/c having kids is the great separator)

Depends on the career they choose. I was a nurse starting out at 22-23. Many of the other nurses my age that I worked with back then...all have at least 2 children and still working full time as nurses.

A woman can have both.

Like noho said...nothing wrong with being educated and being financially independent. I grew up in a very poor home with a mom that stayed at home with no education besides a HS diploma. Seeing just how dependent she was on my dad made me vow I would never be like that. I wanted a husband to share my life with me, not provide one for me.

They're all dumb

I was exaggerating. I know some cool girls. I'm just not interested in dating anyone right now and I probably couldn't if I wanted to. If my buddies call and say they're going fishing or going out drinking or playing cards, I'm gone. Life's too much fun once you have your own place and a little spending money.

That was a close one. Good timing on your part.

As you're over 30, I won't ask for pics.

I constantly worry about my family. They live off of my dad's social security, my mom and siblings low wage part time jobs, and the disability checks my brother gets for his severe mental disability(I keep trying to tell them to get my sister evaluated so she can collect some disability as well).

My mom also doesn't drive...so my dad has to take them all to work and back. He has always done all the bill paying and grocery shopping. She is completely dependent on him. Now that they are getting older I've actually had to think about what happens when one of them dies.

Two nights in a row? Those are some lofty expectations. Nah, I'm good with meeting for the drink and seeing where it goes from there. Besides, the best thing about a good date is that it doesn't get worse once it's over. And the best thing about a bad date is that the story gets better over time. Kind of makes dating win/win.
