LNCHBOX is just being obtuse for the hell of it now. He wants to use semantics to weasel his way out of things that are clear to anyone with a smidgen of intelligence.
If you suggest this doesn't happen if the kid complies you are inherently placing blame on the kid. End of story.
On a related note, the idea that you need to take precautions to protect yourself in the event that you're stopped by the police is terrifying. If I'm not breaking the law I fully expect to be free from the threat of assault by an officer. It's as simple as that.

Sorry the guy fricked up trying to call me out. That's not me being obtuse, it's him being an idiot.

That's not true no matter how many times you repeat it.

No one said it isn't terrifying.

I quoted your posts at the bottom of page 16 or 17. Any reasonable person will understand that you're implying the kid was somehow at fault. If that isn't your intention, you need to communicate more effectively.

No they won't because that's not what I've said ever.

I've been crystal clear, you just refuse to acknowledge it.

That was what I said,,It doesn't hurt anybody to comply, take your ticket, then fight it in court.
It feels really good when you win that shite,in front a whole courtroom full of people.
This how the system is supposed to work, and it does,99.99% of the time, what could we possibly be talking about here? A 150 dollar ticket?
Look, when I was that kids age, I tried to do shite that way. My Dad was already dead, and I didn't have anybody to tell me how to handle this stuff. I couldn't get an Alabama Drivers License for years, but everything that I was ever found guilty of, I actually was guilty of it.The local cops knew me,they knew that My license was perpetually suspended, and it was actual harassment,I would raise hell, they would rough me up a little bit,but not badly, they would just add a resisting charge, and it got damn expensive for me,and sometimes I couldn't pay the ticket,so I avoided court and made it worse. It's like a vicious cycle, and it keeps spinning faster and getting bigger.
The last time that it happened, I had an outstanding warrant for an unpaid ticket, plus the new ticket,so I got arrested, taken to jail( couldn't bond out, because I already had a failure to appear as one of my charges),and went in front of the judge the next court day.
That judge knew me by my first name, because I had been there so many times. He looks down and reads the papers, and it's the same old shite he has seen time after time again with me.
When he looked up, I saw something in his face, that he felt it was getting ridiculous too, and I saw my chance.
So I just said," Sir, I am ready to put this crap to an end, I can't pay these fines,I am going to have to lay them out in jail.If I can get the balance that I owe you guys down to nothing, then I can get my license back.
He totals it up,and it's going to be 75 days in jail. He leans forward and looks me in the eye and says " I am going to do this,so you only have to do 30 days" and he did that.
I have had faith in the court since that day,and it has worked for me.There has been more serious stuff a couple of times, stuff that had my family scared, but I knew I was in the right. It feels good winning in court.

Once again...
Post you're quoting are bolded, you're replies are italicized.
And the full quote of that post for that last reply is this:
"When one person follows the law and does nothing wrong, while the other person breaks the law and beats the shite out of them, there is zero reason for a BUT."
LINK
You can play semantics as much as you'd like, but it is clear that you're implying the guy bears some of the blame for the events that happened.
Post you're quoting are bolded, you're replies are italicized.

"Sure, the cop is wrong, BUT the kid could have handled it better."
Well, it's the truth. What's wrong with presenting the truth?
Their is no need for any BUT statement
Sure there is. It takes a lot of things happening to get to the point where a situation like this happens.
while the other person breaks the law and beats the shite out of them, there is zero reason for a BUT
I disagree. But that would take us into a much larger discussion of what made cops like this cop exist, and I really don't feel like going down that rabbit hole at the moment

I don't think he handled it right. The end result of the situation backs that up. You're the one arguing the semantics. The blame is almost 100% on the cop. But the kid did himself no favors with his chosen way to handle it. If that's me shifting the blame, so be it.
The cops is the a-hole here, but you're just going to ignore me saying that I bet.

Shame on all the people in here blaming it on the kid. He didn't have to get out of his car. Our rights just keep getting chipped away at and soon we will be left with none. Smh

cop said there was a warrant for the kid's arrest? (didn't see in the article that there was actually a warrant, but i skimmed some of it) ... if there's a warrant, you tell the person there's a warrant and why ...
if the kid takes whatever the cop's handing out and later fights it in court, then the cop is still a cop ... the kid is actually a bit of a hero since he resisted and the cop is no longer a cop, at least in that city ... the problem isn't that a lot of cops are bad ... the problem is that the bad cops never get punished ...

No, I'm not because I hope you believe it. However,

this is a problem. Handling it the way the constitution allows you to handle it is just as worthy or an action as complying would have been. The only wrong way to handle it for a civilian is to actually break the law. That didn't happen.
If you're not breaking the law, none of your actions should excuse and/or lead to assault. If you can't see something wrong with any other way of thinking, I'm sorry.
It is black and white to me - did the victim break the law? If not, none of his or her actions are relevant.

It's not a problem. He shouldn't have been in the situation. But once you're in it, that doesn't matter anymore. One dumb decision doesn't excuse another one.

did he even have any weed on him on when they stopped him? I know the cop claimed he "smelled" pot but everyone knows that's oftentimes a bullshite claim they use. I know the story recounted how he had been busted with some pot in his pocket on an earlier date but I didn't see in the story where they found any pot on him during the stop where they just about killed him.

Here is a question, are the windows tinted darkly? So that the officer can't see what is happening inside the vehicle?
I would think,if that is the case, the officer does have a safety issue.
If the kid said" the window doesn't work" It's easy for the cop to say "let me help you out" it's a Pontiac, he can force this window down with one hand. Problem solved.
It was already broken,right?
That could be a lack of proper training, if the kid told him that, but did the kid ever say that?

Legally speaking, of course not. He still didn't do himself any favors. I know you know the difference.
