No way. Makes it too hard to text and drive when it is recording.

Actually want to use an old android cell as a standalone dash cam.

Why? Phone cameras video would be pretty bad for this and have limited storage. Just buy a dedicated dash cam for less that $100.

A phone would be terrible. Need an actual dash cam so the camera is better
