Installation is different for every make and model.
My Ram was fairly straighforward:
Remove plastic housing around the rearview mirror
Unplug rearview mirror wire
Plug in camera
Put camera where rearview mirror housing was
Run rear camera wire under headliner and use double stick tape to attach rear camera to window

I've installed 3 Rove ones, 2 had the backup (other vehicle has a rear window that opens). First one took 20 minutes, 2nd and 3rd less than 10. They have Wi-Fi that can connect to the phone, but I don't really do that. I've pulled footage straight off the memory card when needed.
