The police have no problem release seeing body cam footage when it is in their favor. They say releasing it to the public would hinder their investigation. I wonder how this would hinder their investigation.

I wonder... if I repeatedly shot unarmed man who was on his hands and knees crawling and begging me not to shoot him... Would I get an offer of pleading negligent homicide?

Did you miss this?
Let the justice system work.

Maricopa County prosecutors charged (police officer Philip) Brailsford with second-degree murder, and the Mesa Police Department fired him this month.

now what pisses me off about threads like these? It hasnt gone to court yet and this whole story is based off of lock lipped prosecutors and an emotional family member.
I get it, cops can suck at life. But since when did we become a society of dumbasses who no longer support innocent until proven guilty?
Play with fire sometimes you get burned. Here's a thought, dont make the police respond to anything and you wont get shot.. pretty simple
You had to be "that guy" didn't you. Daniel was begging them not to shoot him. Maybe cops shouldn't be so quick to unholster their weapons. In fact all of them don't need to be armed at all or at most have a weapon in their vehicle. Without the use of firearms they would be forced to utilize other means to diffuse situations

Do you feel and comment the same when Joe Thug commits a horrendous and violent crime and is awaiting trial?

The woman told police that Shaver said he used the rifle for his job killing wild birds that made their way into Walmart stores.
Where do I apply?

That had zero to do with the moment a cop shot him 5 times while he was pleading for his life and unarmed.
And you know this with 100% certainty?

The cop being charged with second degree murder should be your first clue

Drinking, at a hotel, and playing with a gun. These are things that when combined, might culminate with you getting shot by the police.

Not to veer from the real topic, but this seems a little odd:
A rifle? Hopefully an AIR rifle, right?

Shaver’s widow also said the prosecutor has offered Brailsford a plea deal that would reduce the charge to negligent homicide, which would carry a minimum sentence of probation and a maximum sentence of 3 and a 1/2 years in prison. The prosecutor has declined to comment on whether a deal has been put forward.
Brailsford shot Shaver with a personal AR-15 rifle, which he was allowed to use, according to police reports.
The gun was inscribed with the phrase “you’re f*cked,” Tucson News Now reports.
The inscription on the gun was a violation of department policy, which was one of the reasons Brailsford was fired.
“He is not a danger to the community,” his attorney, Craig Mehrens, told reportersafter his first court appearance. “He has honorably served the community as a Mesa police officer and he was honorably serving the day he received the call [to the shooting scene].”

A pellet gun.

A woman and a man who were staying at the hotel told police they met Shaver in the hallway and went to his room to take shots of alcohol. While in the room, he took out a pellet gun and said it was his job to kill birds that get inside Walmart stores.

Daniel Shaver begged for his life before he was shot by Philip Brailsford, according to reports released by Mesa Police on March 29.
Shaver told “please don’t shoot me,” and “please don’t shoot,” a witness and a transcription of police footage reveals.
Brailsford and other officers had instructed Shaver to crawl toward them with his hands in the air, according to police reports. They said he reached behind his back he would be shot. Brailsford said he opened fire after Shaver reached toward his waistline, possibly to pull up his shorts, according to police reports.
Brailsford told investigators he thought Shaver was trying to get a better firing position and when he reached backwards, the officer fired.
“So that’s when I assessed the threat. I fired my weapon, uh, five times,” Brailsford told investigators.

I thought it was comply or die. When did it become comply AND die?

so I don't get the big deal.
Because they offered a plea of negligent! Which is a crock of shite.
If you shot an unarmed guy 5 times who was crawling on the ground begging you not to shoot, ON VIDEO, you think they would offer you negligent?
frick those cops, the union, and the DA's office.

Shaver gave his life to get a psycho trigger happy cop off the street. You can spin it into something positive...see?

I thought were going to be objective
But then
So, you think that cops that killed did so because they were trying to put someone away? That they were playing with fire and should know better?
