This is really awful news. I've been a huge wrestling fan since the late 80's and got out of it while I was in college and many of the years after.
It was about 3 years ago I turned on Raw just to see what the product looked like and there was a match on featuring Daniel Bryan. He put on a great show and I continued to watch more of the WWE, and got back into it all because of him.
His Wrestlemania run was one of the most awesome things I have witnessed. Never has a wrestler been as popular as he was since the days of Stone Cold and The Rock. He made the audience pop and we got our ultimate payoff seeing him win the belt (when it's very true that Vince McMahon did everything to make sure he didn't). The people won.
He put his health on the line to entertain, and due to the nature of this business, real injuries happen, and they can be quite serious.
I am sad knowing he will not wrestle in a WWE ring probably again, but happy I got to experience an incredible ride.

Not a huge shock. Most people thought he'd never wrestle again. Glad I could be a part of the 75,000 people chanting Yes after he won the title.

Gonna really miss watching him go in the ring. He really reminded a lot of someone I would have grown up watching in The Attitude Era.
This makes being part of that 75,000 person "Yes!" barrage at Wrestlemania 30 that much cooler.

FIFY. But hey I enjoyed it too when I was a kid watching the Outlaws Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdoch.
