How about the premise that the United States is moving to the right?

I don’t know how anybody can think that Hitler was some hands off, magnanimous dictator when it came to economics. I don’t know what leads people to believe the utter nonsense of that thought. The government controlled every facet of that country. If you think critically about it at all, you’ll see for yourself.

Past tense. It already happened. At least get the time frame correct, if nothing else.

Adolf Hitler wasn’t in fricking power in 1930 you fricking shitheel. Whatever he did prior to becoming the fuhrer is inconsequential as it had no affect on policy in Germany.

There is zero evidence to support that. Just because the rest of the world moved left at a faster pace than the United States did doesn’t mean the US moved to the right.

It’s simply idiotic to say the US is moving or has recently moved to the right. Idiotic.

I gave him numerous examples of legislation as to how this country is not moving and has not moved to the right since the depression (and really before) and has in fact gone further and further left. He, shockingly, did not reply to that.

I posted exactly this on page 5 in the thread in regards to the US, he did not respond.

quote:

You’re right, the New Deal, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the Great Society, Obamacare, Medicare/Medicaid for all, free college for all, monthly stipends from the government. and going after the “1%” are all right wing policies/beliefs.

I’m sure many more can go further into the weeds than I regarding economic policies of both parties and where they’ve screwed the citizenry. However, every single major increase in the size of government over the size of my wallet has come at the hands of left wing politicians.

He’s a simpleton as you said and has 0 rebuttal to any of that.

He cannot argue without googling something and taking it out of context.

Uve been down this road with him. He just gets in a corner, shots and claims victory.

I seriously dont think he even understands his own argument.

I posted direct refutations.

The war on drugs and the war on terror are just two examples. The downfall of organized labor. These are specific examples of very clear right wing policies.

I should adopt your strategy of quoting one line out of a paragraph and then completely ignoring the counterpoints prevented.

Due to my background I have made a lifelong study of this. Leftist Movements. So let me give my two cents:

The Nazi Party were enthusiastic socialists. This is undeniable. They were also Fascists. Fascists can be on the Left or Right. Nazis were Leftist Fascists. They instituted gun control, advocated massive social welfare, architected central planning , supported abortion, favored massive taxes, persecuted traditional Christians ( they did that weird Nazi pseudo Christianity crap) , has racial quotas, assigned virtues to certain races, were weirdly Nanny Staters about smoking and dietary habits - and otherwise sought to control EVERY aspect of German life. They were in fact , from the same political philosophical perspective as modern American Progressivism. Which is the antithesis of American Conservatism.

That is not to say that the Right can not be fascist. But it would be impossible to be an American Constitutionalist and be fascist. One could comfortably retain Leftist principles and be a fascist. We saw it today in fact on the streets of Portland.

Because the Nazis were Genocidal Racist Nationalists people have trouble relating them to the American Left who are obviously neither Genocidal or Nationalists. But they are from the same intellectual and philosophical tradition. With key differences. Like Sunnis and Shias or Gumps and Aubies.

Individual Liberty is the antidote to all this madness. The American Constitution lays it all out . That is what we should aspire to CONSERVE

How is central planning, invluding wage and price controls not left wing?

You have avoided this for pages.

No googling

Really?

Doesn’t seem like it to me.

Not economic policies.

quote:

The downfall of organized labor.

The downfall of organized labor is a direct consequence of organized labor. And because of that, organized labor is no longer necessary in most fields.

These are specific examples of very clear right wing policies.

Don’t act like leftists don’t love perpetual war as the neocons.

So laughable its absurd.

It was a concerted effort to move power away from the workers to the owners. Capitalists. The right wing.
