Yeah imagine having to wake up to one unexpectedly being on you, and there is no light because of no power so it's also absolute darkness..except for the lighting.

I just have little fear of them being in Oklahoma with such good coverage in broad daylight. Before we got a storm shelter I once merely drove south about 15 miles and watched a lowering “skip” right over our house.
But night? Totally different. Will you have time to get everyone in to the safe place in potentially a matter of minutes? Hell, I’m a heavy sleeper. What if i don’t wake up??

Then you may never.
But for real, there are devices and alarms which act almost like smoke alarms, probably difficult to sleep through.
And I'd have drills where you and your people have a routine of getting up and to the shelter. Like school fire drills, and then hit them with a mock situation at 3am. Acting as if it's all real. Have go-bags ready to go and Work on a routine that gets everyone in as fast and easy as possible.

Crazy night. I've never seen this many tornado warnings issued by NWS Wilmington from system.
Hate to hear about Celina - just a little farm town with honest people.

If I heard correct on the scanner they have yet to fire up any chainsaws yet due to not being able to stop all the gas leaks

Get some weather radios and put them throughout the house. They come with battery backups so the power going out shouldn't be an issue.
Put one on your nightstand. If you sleep through it, you are a pretty damn heavy sleeper.

Grew up in Clayton nearly bordering Trotwood. Waiting anxiously to hear from friends/family.

It’s amazing how a house can be utterly destroyed and the one right next door looks basically untouched.

It doesn’t sound like there’s any reported loss of life so far from either tornado which is a miracle

No loss of life from this or Jefferson City earlier this week. Miraculous indeed. Probably thanks to them hitting places with houses and fewer trailers and probably "only" being like EF3 strength. Still, people had to be responding quickly to warnings too.

Tell me more about this map. What is blue, red, yellow, white?

Posted on 5/28/19 at 9:56 am to deeprig9
Its either an overlay of Correlation CoEff or a pixel-based wind map in which shows the layers of wind observed by radar along the tornado track (represented by the red line).
