You have to understand the black experience to understand the defense of those men.
I'm serious when I say that. When / if you can come to that perspective, it becomes as clear as day as to why black folks might "protect" these guys.
Also, I wouldn't lump Mike Brown or Trvayon in OJs category.

Can we honestly just cut it --- who
Gives a flying frick if they were drinking?
Louisiana is the home of cultural underage drinking. It's encouraged. Outside of Louisiana, many teens do it. I hope they weren't drinking any driving. But I'm
Not about to get into a character drag of a bunch of kids because they were being kids.

Why did that dumbfrick have a patrol rifle out?

Well we can't understand it, we're not black.
But we're a considerable portion of the country, so if you want to do something other than protest about it, you'll have to articulate it to us. Eventually black Americans may be of a number such that you can get what you want accomplished without the cooperation of white people. But that won't be particularly soon.
And, as in any persuasive setting, you'll need to make your case in a compelling way. Blocking interstates and getting social outcast white kids to bang drums doesn't seem to work.

Even from the first thread on this, I'd estimate probably 80% of the comments here were skeptical of the police account, wouldn't you?

What I've heard was one shot to the head with a patrol rifle. Idk?

That'll show him. I mean he will get charged with something. But how many of us would still be walking free and only fired from our job?

He'll likely be charged before the night is over and probs turn himself in. He's probably already in protective custody to be honest.

It takes a little while to summon a GJ and get an indictment on something like this. What they did today was spot on:
1) They admitted within hours of viewing the video that the video clearly did not support the officer's version of events
2) They fired him just a few hours later
I think the PD there is doing an admirable job of staying ahead of this story.
But the cop? The cop is absolutely fricked and is going to jail.

I am typing this slowly so you can hopefully get it this time, you dumb fricking racist prick.
I believe the 5 boys in the car, as per their family's attorney, were not drinking. That would be not drinking, you miserable frickhole. That would mean that I am not demeaning, or questioning their character, you obtuse, bellicose, pratt.
Tell me how your upper middle-class, white, Catholic high school upbringing qualifies you to preach to anybody about the growing up black experience.
You should speak about something you know but the cum guzzling board does not exist here.
Have a nice day.

I have a feeling this officer will be made an example of (as well he should be). A senseless tragedy that confirms alot of fear.

Expect more unjust law enforcement action. It the natural off shoot when certain high risk groups denigrate the role a LE and the talent pool falls lower and lower. Until people respect the law and those tasked with maintaining law and order you will get more incompetent enforcement of societal parameters.

I empathize with everyone involved in these cases.
When a good physician makes a deadly mistake, his/her insurance will cover the damage. Their reputation is usually not destroyed.
When a LEO errs, or has allegedly erred, it permantly destroys their livelihood.
Anyone charged with routinely making split-second, life-altering decisions will eventually make grievous mistakes.
I think the public has little understanding of these situations; their expectations of LEO's are unrealistic. It is inevitable that humans gonna human.

Honestly, I can see pulling a gun instead of a taser easier than I can see shooting into a car moving away from you when all of the other officers are probably doing nothing.
Take Michael Brown. Is it possible the cop erroneously feared for his life and panicked? Sure. And that's what I'd call an "understandable" error. Not to say there aren't consequences, but as human beings, we can understand how that hypo goes awry.
Shooting a guy in the back as he runs away in N Charleston? Don't see it.
This scenario (so far) - don't see it.
Overall, I agree, it's a lot of pressure. But it comes with the job, and incidents like those two appear to be far outside of the bounds of what normal citizens will view as an "understandable" lapse in judgment.

They have an impossible job. Like teachers, a good officer likely never be compensated what he/she is truly worth.
With that being said, this kind of officer and this type of action are exactly what needs to be eradicated.
