1. You don’t have a wife
2. If you can’t find something to do in the ninth largest city in the US, you’re a loser

OP is 100% right, y'all. This place sucks.

Plus we're full. So don't move here.

Have a great day!

No! It's terrible, crime-ridden, demographically unfavorable, and has very poor infrastructure. Trust me...

Downtown Dallas is very weird.

I went there for training for my current job.

The hotel I stayed in was half nice, half run down. I walked two blocks down very clean downtown streets, nice infrastructure, only to be face to face with a homeless man smashing bottles in front of a 7-11. I went onward to see that big arse eyeball anyway.

I walked down one block that smelled wonderful. I turned the corner and there was some sort of gas coming from the street and it smelled weird. Not bad or repgunant, but weird in a way that was kind of frightening. I turned around.

I was driven in a uber by a guy from Philly who proclaimed that people don't use their horn enough in Dallas. Being born and raised in the big city of Ellick, and having spent half a decade+ in Boise, I was appalled at how much people were using their horns.

I went into the Crafty Irishman at around 4 pm to eat some nachos (shut up) and there were a couple dogs and 3 people behind the bar. Everyone seemed to know one another. The bar tender was chatty, and then I found out he owned the bar. What a surprise, but he hooked me up on the nachos. He could have been lying about owning the bar, I have no idea.

Deep Ellum seemed swell during the day, but the sun started to set and I had this gut feeling I should leave. I did leave.

It is surprisingly a fun time during college football season. I was there the opening Saturday in 2023 and I saw tons of different college jerseys. I thought that was cool. I also went to the Katy Trail Ice House. Lots of dogs there.

Overall, I like Dallas more than Houston. I wouldn't say I necessarily outright enjoy either city, though.

yea there are no nice restaurants there.....the whole highland/university park areas are also terrible. should never ever ever go there.

jesus christ dude...you have got to be the most miserable frick on this board

1) there are tons of great places to eat in dallas area
2) tons of good golf
3) tons of recreational fishing and boating areas
4) tons of shopping
5) tons of entertainment options between sports, rodeo, the whole ft worth area, etc...literally millions of things to do around the metroplex

as far as what its known for....money mother fricker, money. tons of great schools, jobs etc

guess what comes with money.....lots of entertainment and dining options.

Deep Ellum used to be one of my favorite spots, haven't been in a while but leaving when it gets dark is solid advice... There's always gunshots, street racing, or some kind of nonsense going on

I think most criticisms of Dallas are true, but I still think it's arguably one of best metros to live in, especially with a family. Things are nicer than comparable cities, infrastructure is comparatively good, there is tons of "stuff" for better or worse (restaurants, shopping, etc.). Most of the parts we'd all live in are less likely to experience bleed-over crime like other similar cities (Houston, Atlanta).

The cons are that it's flat and hot and Dallas people can be annoying. It's also very expensive to live in the more desirable parts of Dallas. Proximity wise, you're closer to the West, but Dallas is probably a little worse than other new-growth metros in terms of being able to drive to nice spots (but so is Houston).

Houston has its own advantages, but for everyday QOL considerations I'd definitely pick Dallas.
