Atlanta has the best public transit of the three, but yeah....

Atlanta is in the midst of a white flood. There are no less then fifteen cranes in the skyline every day. One of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country. Progress in Atlanta right now is crazy. The hood is being pushed out and educated people of all races are moving back in... so much so that Kasim Reed is catching flack for the lack of affordable housing.

Besides the oil industry and proximity to Louisiana, why does everyone act like the Texas cities are Mecca, and ignore other growing/robust cities in the South?

Nobody ignores those cities. Most of this board is closer to Texas, though.

Honestly, it should be Houston/Atlanta/Dallas vs. Nashville/Charlotte/Austin

Judging the state of other Southern cities, that's not a bad thing.

Cities in the 'south' typically have a certain demographic that eventually ruin any good thing that comes the cities way bringing crime and undesirable situations.

Trying to find some different informed opinions.

There is no such thing as a purely southern major city.

I don't live Intown anymore. I lived in Midtown for six years before a stint in Germany. I live in Cobb County now with my wife and kid. If we could afford private school Intown, we'd still live there. Can't help you there.

I'll take the climate in NC/Tenn over Texas any day.

I'll give you income tax (at least for NC)

Austin and Dallas is not as oil heavy as you think. It does have big mid majors that have HQs there but the cities itself doesn’t rely off oil
