No one here knows what the dynamic is. Dad could be a shite, Mom could be a shite, and daughter could be a shite.
Go and sit through child support court if you want to see some shitty people. Women who won't let their ex get any visitation but who happily want to increase their child support every time the man gets a raise. Women who live off child support ... Men who won't pay perfectly reasonable amounts of child support ... Men who are paying child support on someone else's kid because they are the legal father and didn't disavow paternity in time ...
It is a miserable court.

I get appointed to represent a guy in child support court. He works for the railroad. He never showed up for court because he was working tons of hours.
Baby mama was exceedingly ghetto. Daughter was 18 and booted out of high school. Child support would normally stop, but mama claimed the daughter was in Job Corps and that was "attending a secondary school" so support should continue until the girl's 19th birthday.
State's position supported the mother. The child support sought would wipe out the overtime premium (1/2 pay) the guy was earning by working so many hours.
The mother had never worked in her life.
The mother was incredibly obnoxious in court. Thankfully, the Judge finally got tired of hearing her shite and booted her case out.

Air Force officer has a child in Georgia. He gets divorced. Mother accuses him of molesting the child (numerous times). Every law enforcement agency you can imagine investigates the accusations, and the man is cleared. But, he knows that he can never see his daughter without the mother raising a new accusation, so he agrees to have his parental rights terminated.
Years later, mother figures out that Georgia screwed up the parental rights termination. Bossier DA's office happily files for child support. The judge hammers him for support, noting "I hate to do it and it is unjust, but he is the father and the law is clear."

I took paralegal classes years ago. Family law was the ONLY discipline I refused to consider.

even if the ex was a fricking harpy that wasted the support payments on other shite, there are remedies for that and you don't have to take it out on the kids.

Trashy yes, but child support is definitely taken advantage of. A guy i know has his kids almost every day, but because the judge ordered 50/50, he still has to pay his ex $1000 per month. 1k per month for 50/50, but the lazy bitch never wants to take care of them. He tried to go back to court to stop paying and the judge ordered all kinds of counseling to try to get the mom to keep the kids more, and he still has to pay her. Plus lawyer and court fees. So he just takes care of the kids, pays for everything, and $1k is garnished from his paycheck every month. Ex drives a Lexus and has purses that cost 3 of my friend’s house payments. Horrible.

I just made my last CS payment. Nothing of note other than I told my sons I was blocking their mom's phone number and they both understood and supported the action. It was 10 years of trifiling hell but I insulated the kids from it as best I could

In Georgia, they can spend the money however they like. You don't even need to be a decent mom to get custody.
