Granted I do not visit them often but I have them catty cornered across from each other where I have lived for the past 10 years. Without looking for the sign, I couldn't tell you which one is which.

Find a local pharmacy
SavOn inside albertsons is also much better than CVS/Walgreens

Most of mine go to Cost Plus. If you have pretty common prescriptions, it's inexpensive, usually under $10 for a 90-day supply. For stuff they don't handle, I use Publix. They are better in my experience than CVS and Walgreens.

I use Walmart, they have the best hours and quickest service. On expensive prescrips, I shop them around with GoodRX. There is a huge difference between pharmacies. One is $90 for 30 days at Walgreens and Walmart, at CVS it's $30 for 90 days.

Walmart (trashy, I know) has a far superior pharmacy to either CVS or Walgreens

I finally switched to a local one after being with a national chain...so much nicer.

I’ve started using the Ochsner pharmacy. If you are a patient of theirs, it’s very good

I'm less worried about who has slightly better service and much more concerned about which one of the two is most convenient for me to get to.

I only use Walgreens as a last resort for anything. They called one time when my Rx was ready for pickup. I went to the store and still had to wait an hour because they were so slow. Also got chased out of a Walgreens one time for not wearing an optional mask -- that was the last straw. I've never had an issue with CVS, but my easiest experience has always been Wal-Mart, other than getting Rx through the mail.

Both are fricking you hard on what you pay for prescriptions. I was paying upwards of 45 for mine at CVS with insurance. Took it to a local pharmacy price was at $11 for the same prescriptions.
I'm refusing to line PBM pockets

Don’t go to the CVS in Gonzales. Too many incompetent workers there. They tell you that your prescription is not in stock and a week later, it is still not in stock.
Medicine is high as frick even with great insurance. Insulin costing $1,800 without insurance is a crime but I don’t blame CVS for that. Prescriptions are high. Like everything else.

Local Mom and Pop.
My insurance plan through my employer covers my meds 100% through CVS. If I go anywhere else, I pay out the arse.
Otherwise I'd love to use a mom and pop place.
You mom and pop people don't understand that the majority of us aren't voluntarily choosing CVS or Walgreens for our meds. We are doing it out of necessity. Either there is no mom and pop where they live, or their insurance has contracts with one of the big box places.

Independent pharmacies are going to provide better care 9/10 times. The PBMs are the reason there are fewer of those to choose from. PBMs are the reason we lose on about 20% of claims monthly.

You cannot speak to a person if you call CVS. You have to leave a message and the never call you back.

Your prescription coverage is likely managed by CVS Caremark.

These things are very much related.

I got lucky they called me back fairly quickly.
My CVS has cheaper prices than Walgreens (non insurance)
My CVS is also 24/7 while the latest Walgreens is open is around midnight or 1:30am. Not sure, but CVS had things that my Walgreens did not.
Wal-Mart is probably more convenient.

I find this to be true as well.

yep... DIR fees, decreasing reimbursements, etc.... at least we'll be getting at the cost of the medication for claims going forward, starting next year.... so many times we dispense stuff and get paid less than what we paid for what we just dispensed...
