That whole concept of duty to their shareholders (making profits is a big part of that duty) is beyond you huh? Too stupid or just willfully ignorant?

Exactly. Their job is to maximize shareholder value.

It's not to provide cheap food to consumers

That is where it will eventually end up.

At some point going (almost) fully automated will become a more cost-effective option that grossly overpaying for unskilled labor. Leftist never understand that because their view of the world and business is on a 3rd grade level, but that is what will happen.

I stopped eating fast food the last 4+ months at this point

prices just keep going up and up and I enjoy cooking so it works out.

Chikfila is getting outrageous with their prices, wingstop went through the roof and never came back down, i'm sure mcdonalds followed suit like Tacobell and jacked prices another 20%

The last fast food order I got was a nachos bell grande meal, 2 extra crunchy tacos, wife got chicken quesadilla meal, extra soft taco and it was legit almost $30.00 total and this was back probably during the summer.

we went out to the local mexican restaurant down the road a few weeks ago and I got fajitas nachos - which was easily 2 or 2 1/2 times the amount of food that the nachos bell grande had, large cheese dip to split, wife got a chicken quesadilla that was easily 3x the size of the taco bell one and our total was like $34 dollars after we got a dr. pepper and a fruit punch.

like how the frick is it basically the same price but 4x the amount of food

First, you don't necessarily know the quality of the food you are getting. Larger restaurant chains have much more QC than your local Mexican restaurant down the street. That means the cost of ingredients could be incredibly low. Second, I would be willing to bet most of the employees (particularly if they are immigrants) are being paid almost exclusively in un or under-reported cash. Large, publicly traded, fast-food corps don't really have that luxury. Finally, I'm willing to bet your local Mexican restaurant serves alcohol. That is the high margin products. The margins on food are pretty narrow. But if I can sell 50-100 margaritas a day at $13 dollars a pop which costs only about $1 to $2 dollars to make, I'm making up for the thin margins on the food. Wingstop, Taco Bell, etc don't sell alcohol.

In their defense who could have known that doubling the labor cost for a fast food restaurant would cause them to raise the price of their food?

I've seen folks say "but they make so much money they could just keep their food the same price and not make us much"

They aren't in business to feed people for cheap. They're in business to make money.

You could have save the time and effort of typing all that out and just said you’re too stupid to comprehend how increasing labor cost by almost 55% (according to your own numbers mind you) impacts the cost of the end product to the customer.

You just don't get it. The big wigs at the top were supposed to eat the delta in profit caused by raising employee wages.

It's bad enough that our government is fighting the inflation fire by throwing gasoline on it, but some states are making it worse themselves. It's ok though, while inflation is still happening 3 years on, Joe is looking for a pat on the back because the rate of inflation is down.

Lower and middle class people, your eyes and bank accounts deceive you, this administration is doing a really great job.

They dont. Price, demand or supply shocks/shortages. Monetary policy is the driver.

The Fed has a dual mandate, control inflation and control unemployment. There is always a tradeoff.

Progressives believe despite supply chain breakdowns, increased material and labor prices that companies should not have raised prices.

pretty sure the price hikes are not related to labor costs as their profits have also been increasing...

Perhaps you will be the one to adjust these profits for inflation and see how "record setting" they are.

To add to this, minimum wage is increasing in several states. California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill in October that would increase minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hour by April 1, 2024. And many fast food chains like McDonald’s are using this as an opportunity to increase their prices once again. McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski announced in an earnings call that this price increase would be coming soon: “Certainly, there’s going to be some element of that that does need to be worked through with higher pricing,” he says.

Cause-and-effect. It's not that difficult to understand.
