I would honestly have never considered using sycamore for anything like that....it looks very nice.

last time I cut a sycamore log with a chainsaw, it put off some kind of damn toxic fumes that choked the shite out of me...

I didn't plan on using it. The sawmill where I got the lumber had several slabs of it in the yard . My wife picked that wood and we loaded it in the kiln .
The next project is barn doors in the foyer . I'm probably going to do that out of hickory since that's what is in the living room.

Can some people seriously not build something as simple as that? There's nothing to this so called "rustic" furniture. Now the Facebook link posted earlier had some legit furniture that takes carpentry skills. All of the stuff on the site you linked is low skill crap with cheap lumber (pine 2x4s, 2x6s, posts, etc). I know it's the current trend but it looks sort of cheap IMO especially for "custom made".

I know but people are linking it to help OP who wants someone to build one. I am saying that tables like that require zero carpentry skills, basic lumber, and limited tools.

No offense because I see you posted one you built, but as far as custom furniture goes, I don't care for it. To each their own, though.

I'm not claiming that to be a custom piece

But the discussion evolved a little bit after a few good suggestions were made for custom builders in BR; that if the OP is just looking for a farmhouse table he can make it himself. As some people, myself included, shared photos.

Yea that's what I was getting at. That style is simple to make. I bet even SuperSaint could build that and he's high 90% of the time. Of course, he has taken shop in the pokie too, though.

I know a guy who goes out in the spillway and looks for cypress trees that are under water (I didn't realize how many of them that are at the bottom of the spillway), but they use the wood to make custom tables, desk, etc... However. its more of a hobby for him than anything. In other words, you can't just order a custom table from them and expect to have it at a certain time.
