Current Truck Market—- Any Changes?

Does anyone think that the current market for trucks is unsustainable?
At what point does the financing become too easy and the price of trucks too high that the average person can’t afford one?
What happens to the market when that point is reached?

I posted awhile ago about a deal I heard going down at at a dodge dealership while I was buying a used SUV.
There was a guy in there dealing a truck for $55k for 9 damn years.... that’s $640 a month before TTL. While $640 is more than I would ever pay on a vehicle note, it’s not completely unreasonable for someone to say “yeah I can afford that”.
With financing options as they are, the prices are here to stay.
Look at the mid size truck market.. mid to high 30s for a midsize truck? Ridiculous

We have already passed that point. Dropping $50k on a truck that will be worth about $15k when you get your title is ridiculous.

You can buy decently equipped full-size crew cabs under $40k still. The OT only focuses on the top line prices.

$55,000 / 9 years / 12 months per year = $509.26 per month. Did you happen to catch the interest rate?

Not really.
Not everyone has to buy Denalis.
Plus remember inflation when comparing truck prices now to prices in the past

Yet people still buy them
ETA: would people still buy them if they cost 120k and finance for 15 years?

Big rebates will come when gas prices go up. Always dips the truck/SUV markets.

Lol. We are there now. Most people can't really afford a $50k vehicle.

Nothing yet..

Yea my 2018 F250 4x4 was well under 35k delivered to my house. The prices on lower trim trucks are very reasonable and they're equipped as well as top tier trucks from the 90s.
You gotta have that touch screen navigation with 360 degree camera and moon roof and arse massager though for only 25k more

I knew my collection of cassette tapes would come in handy.

If the resale goes down it will change things
When someone can buy a 60k truck and sell it for 45k 3 years later there is no reason to change

What I see is not necessarily a drop in prices or a big slowdown, but I just see owners just having to hold onto that truck just another year or more longer than they had in the past, just to get out from being upside down on the loan to value.

Must be a pretty old shitbox truck to only be worth 15k.
Hell, I see 15 year old trucks going for more than that.

For an extra 25k theyll probably put a cassette player in.
Mine has cruise, power windows/locks, and some other options (upfitter switches, shift on fly 4x4, e-locker, aluminum rims with chrome bumpers) and was stickered for 7k more than my similarly equipped 2003 Chevrolet.
Prices are not out of control. Consumers are out of control.

Meh. $55k diesel will be worth far more than a $55k gas engine in 5 years.

Seriously. A new 4x4 XLT F150 can be had for mid $30s.

The market will adjust when people stop buying them.
