Did RC out of Galveston and it was ok. Most likely will not do it again.
Did Norwegian through Alaska and it was great.
Will probably try a Viking river cruise in Europe.

I did one years ago and wasn’t overly impressed, but we took my 12 year old son on the Summer Worship Nights Cruise a few weeks ago and that was awesome because of all the great artists and shows while on the boat, and the fact that the theater is small so you were close to the artist.

I’ve only ever been one one cruise. It was an incentive trip with with my company for top producers. I’ve been told I was spoiled for cruises the rest of my life because many if not most are not this exclusive. That’s no glossing of myself since I didn’t pay for it!

It was a Baltic Sea cruise on Regent Seven Seas Voyager from Copenhagen to St. Petersburg, Russia and ending in Stockholm. I think it was 8 nights. Ship has 700 maximum capacity and 450 crew. All suite berths with a balcony.

Flew into Copenhagen and boarded ship the same day. Stop in Gotland, Sweden, Sweden’s largest island. Lots of history there. Also a day trip excursion stop in Tallin, Estonia. Beautiful old city. Three nights in port in St. Petersburg.

St. Petersburg was interesting. The Hermitage art museum was outstanding. My wife and I got lost in the city during our free time on the last day and couldn’t find our way back to the ship. We tried talking to people for help, even a policeman. We finally found someone who knew enough English to get us to the ship. Barely made it in time. Panic city. Pretty wild.

Anyway, I haven’t had much of a desire to do another cruise. The horror stories you read about them just turn me off. Maybe it’s just the mass market 3-nights Miami to Cancun that give it a bad reputation.

If I had the time and money I could see myself doing a multi-month cruise on a luxury ship to see the world. Otherwise when I travel I want the freedom to have my own transportation and itinerary.

The only cruise I’m interested in is making the New York-Southampton crossing on the Queen Mary 2. I simply want to experience what an old fashioned crossing would be like.

I was about to say the exact same thing. I would much rather do this than a conventional cruise.

I don’t understand getting the OT’s opinion about anything. You either like or not no matter what other people think.

I'm saving them for old age.

My attitude towards travel is do certain things when you're young and healthy and able to tackle the job and save the lazy stuff for when you're old and your knees are shot.

I do have one regret. I've heard that Norway is closing off access to cruise ships to some of it's most majestic fjords over "environmental concerns". That's a box I would like to check off. Other ways to see the fjords obviously but popping in and out on a nice cruise ship would have been pretty cool.

Most things have indeed become trashy unless they're uber-expensive.

Makes sense. No one on the OT can afford uber-expensive so they’re entire life experience is trashiness

Been on the wish twice. You wanna really get a totally different type of feel go concierge. Disney cruises are top notch. Went on carnival cruises back in early 2000’s don’t remember them being as bad as you read about now but I’m not gonna try them again. Never have to be around a bunch of people if you go concierge.

Never been on one, though we have talked about doing the Queen Mary II trip.

A friend of mine does a cruise to Cancun several times a year. He has some expensive meds and he gets his prescriptions filled in Mexico, says it pays for the cruise.

Literally nothing trashier. And adults with no kids on Disney cruises is about as pedorific as it gets

I refuse to go on them, but I’ve been on 2 Disney cruises and have one planned for next year… kids love it.

My wife wanted to go on one but thankfully I found footage of a step contest by the pool and was able to just go to a resort.
