First let me say that I appreciate all the essential employees at work.
However, All the check out clerks at grocery stores, and other places of business that don't change their gloves between customers is really not helping that much.

If there is a person ahead of me with COVID-19 and they buy chips and a drink and the clerk handles it, checks them out and then handles my stuff with same gloves,,, We are not doing anything.

Open up the businesses and let this thing rip!

They have been saying for a month to wipe off your groceries with a disinfect when you get home if that is something you're worried about...

The gloves are to keep them from infecting you and you from infecting them (less likely to touch their faces). It's on you to disinfect your groceries in case another customer was infected.

The general public has been walking around for hours sneezing and farting on whatever you picked up off the shelf anyway. The gloves are to protect the cashier from your items.

Not if the person before you transferred it to their gloves.

No, you both missed my point. The gloves are to keep you from getting infected if the cashier has the virus. The gloves are to keep the cashier from getting infected if you have the virus.

The gloves are not to protect you from other patrons who might have the virus.

How to shop safely

Basically it would be difficult to get virus from a cereal box
Wash hands when you get home from store, wash hands after unloading groceries, wash hands before you prepare food, wash hands before you eat

I do sanitize all the snacks I am dropping off to my Grandpa (nursing home) if I am taking them same day

The clerk is protecting themselves. You wear gloves to protect yourself.

The logic behind everyone wearing a mask makes sense

It's not perfect, but we get it

Having people wear the same pair of gloves all day is stupid and honestly grosses me out considerably more than no-gloves. I'd much prefer the illusion that these folks are just regularly hand washing/sanitizing.
