I'm 35 and was a psych major @ LSU and never heard of it. I was loaded a lot back then though so maybe I missed it.

Can someone please explain critical race theory to me in layman's terms?

Critical Race Theory is just re-packaged Marxism except that it uses race as the delineating factor instead of capital or labor.

The current rage is to take an event in history, like the first ship to bring slaves to America, which was in 1619, and then use that as a platform to cherry-pick and/or outright re-write history in an to attempt to reframe it in a purely racial bent to create their narrative of "systemic racism"(ie: "the American Revolution was all about slavery", "police were first created to catch escaped slaves", etc).

The 1619 Project

What I find interesting is that those of you who hate the Left and want to destroy it are making a mistake in trying to get rid of critical race theory. It's a major fault line in the Left. Many of the Left see class and capitalism as the main root of our problems. Those who support CRT accuse others on the Left of class reductionism.

It's the ages old debate of race and class in the United States. Many of the Left see class unity as most important and eschew critical race theory because they see it as dividing the working class based on race. You capitalists should want that. You capitalists benefit by dividing the working-class based on race. So if you guys are smart you will actually promote critical race theory.

Your biggest fear in the US is that the working-class unifies and places race second and form a true working-class coalition.

Most sane Leftists in the US know the two are intertwined and require much more analysis than just race versus class.

Think of it as okay to debate fentanyl use in clinical setting versus letting it go to the black market... It is a theory in Academia that should stay there for debate and never ever ever be applied outside of a "clinical/academia" setting... Just a debate topic for debate class.

It scares the F out of boomers. Which makes me laugh cause their war on drugs is the cause of all of this. It's boomers fault. Those assholes set the trajectory.

Don't worry millennials will put a stop to it. The gen Z fackers are nuts.

Marx was about class analysis. He never touched on race. He actually believed that race and ethnicity were secondary to class. He hardly ever discussed race and ethnicity. To him it was all about class and one class exploiting the other.

Cultural Marxism is something that Marx had nothing to do with.

You never learned the word “barely?”

I would Say 90% of the black kids at my high school were there to play football or basketball and we’re on a “work study” program.

As usual, the Left's tribalism protects the Left as a monolith from this. You may say it's a fault, and it may be an ideological fault, but those faults don't matter to the Left or the Classical Liberals.

They all support the same candidates.

Plenty of stupid and oblivious people in the world. That’s how we got here in the first place.

As others have said, CRT seeks to destroy the individual and define you based on the color of your skin only.

You may be marxist scum, but at least you are actually educated in marxist ideology instead of just parroting what's cool and hip for the left these days.

I doesn;t matter. CRT just pushes the same elements of marxism into race.

Same myth, different trigger. Its all antiscientific lies.
