Criminal enterprises in Louisiana

The Golden Nugget post had me thinking about this. Last year I had to stay at the Golden Nugget for a work meeting.
Decided to relax and drink at the pool where I noticed something strange. Heavily tatted up Hispanic guy with three beautiful women sitting around him in a cabana. Two larger Hispanic dudes in the pool close by.
Shortly, a black dude and another Hispanic male walk up to the cabana area where the tatted up dude was with two amazing looking Hispanic women.
They exchange some words and they walk back into the casino. Based upon what I saw it looks like this guy was running whores in the casino. Two guys in the pool were bodyguards.
Are there Cartels that set up shop in Louisiana? I always hear about the mafia in Baton Rouge and Ascension, and the gangs in New Orleans. Even hear rumors of the Russian Mafia in New Orleans too. Whatcha got?

My one WTF moment like this happened in a well-known drugged out techno club in Metairie called Kenny's Key West. We left Sports(Reggies) in Tigerland one Wednesday night at 1 am to go to Kenny's after dropping some acid. We were 18 and fricking retarded. I digress. I think the special at Kenny's was like $3 cover and $1 longnecks till 5am or something.
We get down there and feeling really good.
After a while we notice a Little Redheaded dude walk in and stand against the bar, surveying the crowd. He's got a big black dude with him. Both in suits. Look like That CSI Miami dude.
I then see two chicks walk up to him from the dance floor and get something from the big guy. Looked like a couple pills. And they go back to dancing.
Next I see a Cop walk in, just checking shite out. Walks right up to the leprechaun lookin mfer and shakes his hand and chats for at least 30 seconds. They knew each other and had some agreement.
Cop leaves like nbd.
I was trippin good and freakin the frick out when I grabbed my buddy said "lets get the frick back to BR". We forgot our other friend who was getting the DJ to make him a mix tape. He took a Greyhound back to BR. I still apologize to him when I see him at LSU Baseball or Football tailgates.

To be specific the mafia activity that was in Ascension was mainly in Donaldsonville.
I've heard about murder cases in which someone killed the "wrong" person. Although they had all the evidence in the world to prove it was this person, they were not found guilty. They had people waiting for this person when he got out of court, got in a car with some people and was never seen again...
As for as today, if they do it is on a smaller level. More likely a proxy to a bigger cartel.

Lake Charles is where most of the coke on LSU’s campus is bought from.
Apart from the Louisiana State Police being the biggest crime enterprise, I don’t think criminals in Louisiana are too smart to open one. Maybe the Livingston meth folks come to mind but they are not that smart.
