So, two adults went to Italy together, without writing a dissertation on why.

Updated from yesterday.
Mobile County Sheriff is frustrated with the Catholic Church for not answering questions and providing more information about Crow. The Archbishop comes out with another video on the situation

I ain't Catholic but I've been to Mass and many Catholic weddings. It is weird how they focus so much on Mary and pray to her...

Particularly what part of Holy Mass do you refer? Please be specific, because, we are all here to learn. Thanks.

They don't understand that the Bible teaches us that the Davidic King holds the Queen Mother in very, very high esteem, so, we should do likewise.

‘Make your request, my mother; for I will not refuse you,’” (1 Kings 2:19-20)

Here is the Archdiocese of Mobile's statement as of August 14th.
quote:

Statement from the Archdiocese of Mobile regarding Alex Crow MOBILE, ALA. -
The Archdiocese joins those who are troubled and concerned about the recent behavior of Alex Crow. Upon learning that Crow had abandoned his parish and left the country with a recent McGill-Toolen graduate, the Archdiocese immediately reported this to the Mobile County District Attorney, who, based on this report, opened an investigation. The Archdiocese has and will continue to cooperate fully with all requests for information from law enforcement. Additionally, the Archdiocese immediately informed Crow that he may no longer minister as a priest, tell people he is a priest, or dress as a priest. While the Archdiocese understands the public’s desire to know as much information about this situation as possible, since this is an active criminal investigation, we are deferring all further comment to the District Attorney and Mobile County Sheriff’s offices. ###
He has been stripped of his faculties, it's drastic in the Church and under canon law. The next step is full laicization from Rome. He was first disciplined on July 26. Notice that this bulletin no longer refers to him as a priest.
By his own actions has he been dismissed.

quote:

AUGUST 16, 2023
What has Archbishop Rodi done regarding Alex Crow? When it became clear that Alex Crow had intended to abandon his assignment, Archbishop Rodi removed the faculties of Alex Crow. He has also ordered him, under his promise of obedience, to return home immediately.
What does it mean that his faculties have been removed? A faculty is the priest’s ability to function publicly as a priest. So that means Alex Crow is not able to function as a priest publicly. He cannot preach, publicly say Mass, do weddings or funerals, or even hear confessions, except if a person is in danger of death.
Was he defrocked? Defrocking is not a term of canon law.
What is canon law? Canon law is the law of the Church that developed over the Church’s 2000-year history. This law is for the Church and especially for ministers of the Church. It is not in conflict or competition with the civil laws of the state or country. It is mostly found in a book called The Code of Canon Law. Canon law seeks to restore justice and repair scandal.
What can happen next with canon law and Alex Crow? There is a process called laicization or dismissal from the clerical state.
Can Archbishop Rodi do this process himself? The simple answer is no. He has to assemble a panel of three priests who examine what happened. These three priests would be impartial and objective experts in canon law. This process can start six months after when Alex abandoned his assignment.
Why does it take so long? Canon law ensures that the rights of all parties are respected. The process also gives time for all the facts to be established. Finally, the process also gives everyone who needs to speak a chance to be heard.
Is Archbishop Rodi planning to pursue the dismissal of Alex Crow from the priesthood? Yes.

A list of the people standing at the foot of the Cross as Jesus convulsed and died.

Mary, Mother of Jesus
Mary Magdalene
Mary, Mother of James and Joseph/Joses
The Mother of the sons of Zebedee
Salome
A Sister of Mary, Mother of Jesus
Mary of Clopas
The Apostle John

....plus His executioners.

His followers? Seven Women and One Man. Except the Apostle John, all the other Apostles fled into the night. One betrayed him. Another cursed His name when confronted about his ethnicity.

Mary the Mother of God stood at the foot of His Cross. She never wavered. She was with Him up to the moment He said "It is finished" - John 19:30 and took His last breath. She was with His disciples as they anointed His Sacred Body and covered His body with the burial cloth. Then she stood at the entrance to the tomb, stared into His tomb as they rolled the stone closing His tomb. This part about her standing at the entrance? That's not in the Bible, that came to me during a meditation session once. I want to believe Mary was holding on to every second she could as the darkness of the tomb closed in on her Son. You should meditate on that Bible passage too.

I love Mary the Mother of Jesus. She is an example of steadfast, unwavering love, and devotion. We honor her. We Catholics do not worship Mary, we reflect and meditate on her sufferings and strive to *emulate her example. She was there with Him as He completed His mission on earth. She is with Him now in heaven and waits for us to join her in worshipping her Son for all eternity. A good mother loves her child, and Mary is a good mother. The best.

*emulate:[i]verb - match or surpass (a person or achievement), typically by imitation.

Another thread reminded me of this story

Looks like he was formally laicized early this year LINK

they moved back and got married in mobile (courthouse marriage). The girl he groomed didn’t press charges and didn’t cooperate with sheriff’s investigation so I guess that’s the end of it

She was 18. She voluntarily left apparently. What is the issue?

Baptists are Protestants
Ehhh...if I'm not mistaken the Baptist Church and their belief system pre-dates the reformation that began Protestant Christianity. You had Orthodox, Catholicism, and Baptist. The key difference from Catholicism to the Baptist believers being the literal interpretation of Jesus' teachings and message that through Him is the only way to interface with the Father, and that confession of one's sin was intimate and personal between the believer and the Father. Also that baptism is a step in faith and a showing of repentance of one's sinful self and renewal and a call out to receive the Holy Spirit. While many Protestant churches do have similar beliefs and that is obviously why a lot of times Baptist are covered under the non-Catholic blanket as being called Protestants, they were never a part of the Catholic faith nor a part of the reformation.
