re: Crazy DoorDash experience last night

I doordash and I never ask for a tip. If it's not worth the trip, I decline the order. I treat everybody's order as if it were my own food, the tips work themselves out.
The holy grail of my sentiments on this.
As a driver it's up to me to either accept or decline the order. If it meets my criteria, I accept. If it doesn't, I decline. That's it. If I accept an order that happens to be a difficult drop-off, it's on me to get the food to the person, just as it is if I have an easy drop off.
It's the same sentiment when people bitch about how long DoorDash takes. Tip well enough and your food will get to you quick. If you live 4 miles away and I see that $8.50 pop up, I'm on it with quickness.

I sure as hell hope you reported her to DD. Even if she had delivered the food perfectly.... asking for a larger tip is unprofessional. If you don't like the amount of the trip, then don't accept it. It's simple. I drive on the side for DoorDash, UberEats, Grubhub and have never ever thought of asking for a tip or not completing my delivery. If everyone would report the bad delivery people, then maybe we could get rid of half of them.

Bruh, it sounds like she couldn't get in the building, which is normal if she doesn't have a room key.
Wait… you think you can’t get into a hotel lobby without a room key?

What happen the motel 6 didn’t have a restaurant downstairs?
With all the bullshite going on in the world the last thing I was is someone like this person handling my food. I know there’s a lot of good drivers and trustworthy doing these jobs but I’m not taking any chances.

I have around ~500 deliveries under my belt with DD and this shite is terrible in the OP.
I decline close to 40% of the orders offered because of no tip, shitty tip, or too far. When someone tips nothing and it's like 12 miles each way I just laugh because no one is going to make that run and their food is just sitting there at the place getting cold
'
If people want prompt delivery, a decent tip will ensure that

How do you post here and your reply wasn’t, “pics?”. Come on man

While not common, some lobbys buzz you in after a certain time, especially in high crime cities.

I’ll never use services like that. If I travel I prefer to go see the area and check out local restaurants anyways
Nothing against you OP. I just think too many people choose convenience over experience these days.

It's the service, not the waiter bringing the food to me 25 feet.

Did you tell her to get her lawyer to get her child support raised?

I think the issue is that there is some schmuck out there who will eventually take it. Because they don't understand that they are actually losing money.
That's where it gets murky, IMO. Especially for people who can't otherwise get a job for whatever reason. They think they are still working hard, and they will make it because they have the resolve to take the shitty orders and keep their acceptance rate high, not realizing that they don't work for DD. DD definitely skirts the Independent contractor/employee line, but in the eyes of the law we are independent contractors. There's no badge of honor in this if you drive 150 miles in a day to make $80 and then still have the pay the SE tax. And that's where it seems like DD is advertising to drive for them and taking advantage of people, especially those that don't speak English.
That's why when people ask me if it's worth it to Doordash I usually tell them no. If you need money NOW, sure. Go get some cash in an emergency. If you have a few extra hours and can be selective about what you take, sure. But there were days when I was doing this full-time (with my books in the car while I studied) where I'd be out for 5-6 hours and bring in $60 because I was steadily declining $3 orders or $10/15 mile orders. On the flip side, there were days where I'd make my goal (usually $100 in those days) in about 3 hours. But it's much easier to just go get a job.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't blame a female driver not wanting to go to the hotel room door of a delivery. That seems like one quick push away from getting raped in a hotel room.
Leaving outside the door to the hotel is funny, but no fault at all if she had left the food at the reception desk.

Your food was spit on or tainted in some way. You might be vaxed now or have AIDS. Good luck.

Well said on the first part
I did it occasionally after my 8-5 job several years ago and some on the weekend.
I did it during the heart of Covid and the orders were frequent and often. I did it a little at the end of last year and it has slowed considerably because of course all the restaurants are back open

I rarely if ever use those services. Only time is when i travel and am close to the restaurants. I live relatively far out compared to where we order food regularly. My wife or I usually just make the food takeout if we want to eat at home.
We also have shite drivers here. We got the wrong order about 40% of the time when we used those services.

Good lord how do you function?
I would send to door dash and had the tip removed and new food sent for free.
