Why was the cop there in the first place? I have a very hard time believing he just pulled up because the guy was filming him. That sounds like a massive amount of bullshite

It still boggles my mind when people say "if he has nothing to hide they should just comply and move on". How about this cop not be a dickhead and not pull a gun on someone in their own front yard for filming with their phone.

The cop didn't pull his gun out because he was being filmed. He pulled it out because the guy refused to show his other hand so the officer could see he wasn't armed.

What cause did the cop have to get out of his car and approach the citizen?
Obviously he had nothing since he promptly left after trying to flex muscle.

I kind of agree that he should have followed this reasonable command but I can see why you wouldn't.
Example, cop asks to see your hands and you do it. Then he asks to get on the ground and you don't, now you're resisting and can be beaten.
There's just no way of knowing if the cop will stop at reasonable requests.

This, big time. There is definitely more to this story for sure.
The guy could've handled himself better, but that cop unholstering his weapon and just walking around with it in his hand like that is just so fricking ridiculous. That whole thing felt so ridiculous that it seemed fake, and it's sad that it wasn't.

It boggles my mind people with "nothing to hide" don't just do as their told and go about their day rather than risk getting themselves into some serious ish trying to prove their point.

Honestly, it doesn't even matter if he's a cop or not.
He's a gun with a gun aimed at me.
Like any other time, I would try to defuse the situation, esp. if all he's asking is to see my hand.
I'll worry about the next part later.

I don't think it matters why he was there. The cop was probably just looking for suspicious characters, clearly a guy filming the police (doesnt matter if he is on his own driveway) is suspicious. You can't just expect to film police movements and think no one notices. I am sure there is some sort of drug activity in the house. This guy is lucky he didn't get a 3am wakeup call with a SWAT team. Cops should be able to pull out their sidearms to intimidate if need be.

Another simple rule, if someone starts waving their gun around for no reason, take away their gun privileges.
