Your little troll would make more sense if there were any houses anywhere close to the dome. Too bad there aren't any.
frick you.

I went to my house in Metairie as soon as they would let people back in. I had this fairly sturdy LSU folding chair that I kept in the backyard. It wasn't there, so I thought that someone had been at least in the yard if not the house and had taken it.
So I pack up a few things and drive out to Causeway, maybe 100 yards away, and I see my chair in the median. It was folded up but the legs were sunken into the ground a foot deep, like a javelin or something. The wind during the storm had caught it, thrown it up in the air over 4-5 houses and half the highway and slammed them legs first into the ground.

The Superdome was being used for target practice long before Katrina. In the mid/late '80s I worked for a company that was bidding on some work involving the winches that raised and lowered the gondola. I was up in service area just below the roof. I noticed daylight shining through a small hole. I told the Superdome facility management guy who was showing me around, "Hey, it looks like you've got a leak in your roof." He looked at it and nonchalantly said, "Yeah, looks like another bullet hole." After further discussion it seemed like some of the residents in the (now demolished) high rise projects across the Ponchartrain Expressway from the dome would ocassionally shoot at the roof for the hell of it. He said some were surely from New Years Eve celebrations, but a disproportionate amount of holes were on the interstate side, leading him to believe some were intentional.
None of my story makes it any easier for a firefighter to take a Guardsman's weapon and kill 3 snipers ~1,000 yards away with open sights, but people have a long history of shooting at the Superdome.

Yea and your fiance, who doesn't even own a gun, registered 3 killshots from 400+ yards out?

It pisses me off when people say that no one was shooting at the first responders at the superdome.
My late fiance was there with the fire dept and the national guard was there. There were assholes in houses around there taking shots at them when they were outside the dome. My fiance said the Nat Guard guys were very young and afraid to shoot back.
My fiance got one of their guns and shot back. He said he knew he killed one because he saw the head explode with blood. It traumatized him so much because fiance was a man who spent his life helping people and did not even own a gun or hunt. He felt he was going to hell for it but what choice did he have? He saved lives.
Later, he was summoned to a meeting and told that it was confirmed that he killed 3 of the a-hole snipers with the Nat Guard gun. he was cleared of all charges but it still haunted him to till the day he died. I was the one who slept next to him and dealt with his PTSD.
People may not believe it and the media will downright deny it but it happened
We've seen a lot of BS stories on this board but I have to believe this one takes the cake.

. I would hate if the story was told and the POS sniper's families found out and tried to sue over it and dragged my guy's name thru the mud. They don't deserve a damn penny or a bit of sympathy.
It is a little bit odd that there was no media coverage of this incident, especially since there was an investigation and hearings about it. The media was all over the Danzinger Bridge shooting from the start and it was initially reported in a semi-favorable light. As you probably recall, a female NOPD office reported that she was taking fire on the I-10 highrise bridge from the Danzinger Bridge. NOPD and LSP responded and eliminated the threat. Although it took years to uncover completely, the initial story of the shooting that left two civilians dead turned out to be about 99% bullshite. Your guy popped three singlehandedly in front of multiple witnesses.
