Turns out, there is a number I will not pay even if I am craving them.

Yep same with many, including myself. I'm indifferent about eating it early but many people have got to have it and will pay it regardless of higher market prices.

I expect that this season's skyrocketing price may scare off some sales at some point, but the volume being caught is so low currently, that every crawfish put on the market is sold long before it has been caught and put into a sack.

It won’t stay $8lb all year it. After lent I’m pretty confident live prices will be more affordable under $3lb

It’s legal to purchase hot crawfish with EBT? I thought it had to be cold

It’s not

If a place is selling hot boiled crawfish on the ebt card, they can pull their ability to accept it for anything

Live crawfish does qualify

they sell the hell out of boiled crawfish to ebt here. Legal or not.

3 lbs, 6 shrimp, a crab cluster, five potato and 1 corn. That is the welfare order

I’m looking at snow out my window, plus 4 more inches on Friday, and even more next week. This snow will thaw and find its way to the White River, which will merge into the Mississippi River and will be at your location in a couple of weeks or so.

Help is on the way.

Again, tell us about the prices the last three years. Did you think they were unreasonably high compared to other food price increases?

I don't care what it cost, I will still buy around 200 lbs like I do every year.

Yeah I was going to be ok paying $8 or $9 a pound over the next month to go grab five pounds or so sometimes. Ain’t going to pay more than that. Doesn’t matter, nobody around here even has any to sell.
I participate and/or attend a school fundraiser in April where they generally will boil 15k pounds. They are going to be screwed this year

Just a different excuse to raise prices every year. There is always something. Not as palatable to just say they get more to export than sell to locals.

As a lifelong Louisianan and consumer, been seeing excuses for higher prices or sudden lower crop for over 40 years. So, if that makes me an "expert", so be it. If this year's excuse is "legit" maybe it is a case of the boy who cried wolf for so many years.
