Go find something profitable? You think food should just be free? You are what’s wrong with society. People just want to bitch and get something for free

Real American, maybe you can take the extra money you saved and buy you some good toilet paper for when you get explosive diarrhea tonight.

Crawfish prices going up? Shocking.

Looking into my crystal ball, here's your headline for 2025:

Crawfish Prices Going Up. Because of... um.. El Nino. Yeah. That's it.

You may have been joking but many of the clowns on here actually think this way and have no understanding of economics and mathematics.

Some of the usual slapdick posters with these shite takes are genuinely ate up with the dumbass.

Back a little bit on subject here…… Considering the bad situation we are already dealing with, what is the thinking with how much worse the freezing weather next week will hurt things?

On a normal year a couple days of what’s forecasted next week, it would halt production for a good week. The crawfish basically don’t move with the cold water. Then once it’s warms back up to normal, production goes back to normal.

Gonna have to go buy me some crawfish nets and melt. And then go find me some flooded ditches. Too bad I can't buy me some energy, too. Guess I could bring along the grandson.

Enjoy your shrimp boil baw!

But seriously there's not much out there right now anyway so it can't slow it down a whole lot more than it already is. Things should get better when it starts warming up in springtime and the next wave of juveniles grow big enough to catch.

I keep seeing people on Facebook say “I guess I’m going to have to go catch my own crawfish this year” I keep thinking to myself more power to you. There won’t be much out there

I don't think that the majority people understand that if there aren't many to catch right now in ponds that we spend countless hours and thousands of dollars on to cultivate crawfish and make sure that they have the best conditions possible to survive, that there won't be many in a ditch where conditions aren't so ideal. It's just words they're saying and they don't understand that it really doesn't make sense.

The truth is the drought killed off a good portion of the crawfish that was seeded this summer. If you don’t believe me idk what else to tell you. But y’all will really be screaming if we end up getting the cold weather that’s forecasted for next week. That will end up killing the little bit of crawfish that is actually out there

Oh fricking well. One year without crawfish is absolutely not going to be the end of the world. Shrimp, BBQ, smoker…pretty sure my stomach won’t miss crawfish for a season.

Education time. One year without crawfish will kill off the industry. By that I mean some producers will go out of business and you know what that’ll mean? Less supply in the future years will normalize high crawfish prices.

Almost everyone here who would be happy to see the farmers hurting and operations folding absolutely have absolutely no clue what the future consequences will be, but it certainly won't make crawfish for their boils cheaper.
