It's a closely-guarded and highly complex chemical formula. Find you a coonass chemist and you've hit solid gold.

This. Boiling crawfish is hard to frick up but if you’re doing this, you’re fricking up.

I usually just steam mine in the pot and add lemon juice and old bay to taste

If you’re buying the cheap crawfish it won’t work but it’s good with the decent $10/pound crawfish

This is true. My ex-girlfriends family was from Carencro and Opelousas. They we're all pretty horrible at Boiling Crawfish. They were good with gumbo though.

The most consistently good crawfish baws are in New Orleans. Mostly on the outskirts like Harahan, Chalmette, West Bank and Metairie.

I like these threads when the guy is like, "help! The SO's family decided to put on a crawfish boil. I got asked to cook. They are from some other part of the country. I'm from louisiana, but I always talk a big game while having no clue. I dont know how to cook crawfish, and I'm trying to impress everyone. I dont want to look stupid, and my masculinity is at stake..What do I do??"

Watched a boy from Mamou boil crawfish this weekend. Nothing in the water. Boil for 1 minute, dump in cooler, cover with entire bottle of mustard and then sprinkled seasoning on top.

Location doesn’t ensure boiling ability.

I know he’s reading this too. Lol.

I would have told him he just wasted all that crawfish.

Mustard! Maybe that’s my missing ingredient.

I just use Tony’s and French’s Worcestershire as I dump the hot crayfish into the ice chest.

Then shake and let them steam for 20 minutes.
