I remember the days of eleven cents a pound by the sack, about 40 pounds in Port Allen. Happy Days. $4 a sack plus change.

I'm smart, ypu apparently are comparing prices to the issue of inventory in the ponds. They delete their inventory last year by selling peelers, instead of re releasing and holding their #s up.
So the next year, this year, they are worried about #s?

Retarded

And yes, higher inventory (catches) lowers the prices.
And the DONT want that. Don't let them fool you

whole lot of stupid as usual in crawfish threads

Do you realize that most of the ponds last year are going to be rice fields this spring not crawfish ponds?

Also where are the peeling plants going to get crawfish if they let all the smaller ones go and wouldn't letting the smaller ones go reduce the supply on the market which in turn raises the price?

So, explain why the catch was significantly down across the board......

You're asking questions to ChatGPT, which means you're just going to get an AI response.

"It's going to be a plentiful year, hopefully, if production is good with the acreage out there," said Fontenot. "Producers were pretty much able to stock their ponds like they wanted to for the year — there were a few that ran short, because the season was so short last year. But for the most part, they're looking good. I think there'll be plenty of crawfish out there for everybody."

Too much crawfish = Additional labor costs

Prices gonna be high as hell

Last year, lack of rain..

This year, because the insisted on selling peelers when they should have placed back in ponds.

FYI, we have 1e0 acres crawfish farm. Just letting you know the game

LOL. That market has an endless supply of non domestic which can handle the demand while our production is down.

Its not an endless supply and the demand for the imported is limited especially in LA and Texas

Also tell me how leaving the small crawfish in the pond is going to increase population in 2 years when the pond sits dry for multiple long periods in between those years

Also stock was really short already, what are people seeding their 2025 ponds with if you are leaving a bunch of crawfish in the field?

I remember the 89 and 99 cent days. Crawfish were so plentiful you couldn't even catfish on bottom in bayou sorrel. We would literally pull up crawfish on our hooks
