Is a cracked windshield and automatic rejection on inspection sticker or does it depend on the place or where the crack is?

I’ve had a cracked windshield (on the driver’s side no less) for 3 years and haven’t gotten any grief about it

It is good to know the people at the inspection places who maintain an open mind about car condition.

I have been told but do not know for a fact that any form of a crack or blemish (as not not bug spots but places where your windshield has been dinged) is grounds for not passing inspection..

I have not personally experienced that..

I think it’s in your line of vision.

Try a different inspection location.

It's from the top middle to passenger side. Nothing on driver

Depending on the inspection place.. It's not in your line of vision, so you should be ok..

Some of those guys can be real hard asses..

Depending on how “top” and how “Middle” COULD still be in your line of vision. Don’t assume that to mean looking straight ahead.

There was a small place my dad would go with a junky car he had for a while with a crack spanning 65% of the length of the windshield and they passed him every time. There’s always a place that’s just in it for the money that’ll pass anyone.

I was just rejected because the crack was longer than 6 inches.

I got denied an inspection sticker last year because of a crack in the lower passenger side. The dude was like Inspector Clousseau: “That is a crack”
Me: “Yes sir, that is a crack”

It's crucial that you distract the inspector with a $20 bill taped to a part of your windshield that isn't cracked.

Suppose to have the middle 1/3 clear of cracks. I rode in a wrecked Lyft yesterday that had the bumper falling off, side mirror taped on, and cracks all on her windshield. Looked like she hit a person riding a deer. She had a brand new sticker.

It's funny how the biggest, unsafe pieces of shite on the road can get stickers every time, yet I get denied because my tint is 5% too dark

I have a crack in the middle going from the bottom to about a quarter of the way up. I didn't want to have to replace it though.

They recently changed the law. Any crack longer than 8 inches - regardless of if it is line of sight or not - is now a cause for rejection.

I get a crack in my windshield every year in the same spot... Right after I leave the inspection station.

Because a crack in a windshield is super unsafe for the roads

Only the DMV would kick a man out for in excess of 6 inches.
