I'd go to an endodontist for sure for a root canal.

Go see the emergency Dentist tonight and have the tooth snatched out before you take opioids if it isn't one of the social 6. Easy peasy.

You can safely take a combo of extra strength Tylenol and advil liqui-gels and it has the same pain relieving effect as a narcotic. I forget the combo, but I’m sure it’s out there.

Backed up by medical studies and recommended to me by an oral surgeon. I’ve used it in anger recovering from a root canal as an alternative to narcotics on an elk hunt at altitude, and I’ve used it post surgery when sent internationally for work.

I had a dentist do a root canal on a tooth that was dead. He then put a crown. Years later that crown became infected. Once that was all cleared up I did an implant. They also took tissue from the roof of my mouth and put it on my gums.

Scheduled for a root canal next week. My dentist could have done it today, but we opted for a round of antibiotics to eliminate or prevent any infection.

I can feel your pain. I had one broken but it was an extra tooth inside of the jawline. Throbbed constantly. The dentist said it was infected so I had no choice in the decision. He prescribed me 10 loratabs though. They helped immensely when I wasn’t at work.

Bulllll shite

Had an exposed nerve that got infected and I'd stack that pain against child birth, kidney stones, etc

Word of caution, it sucks

Root canals aren’t that bad. I’ve had several. The biggest issue is how long they take… hours in the chair. After that, it’s some sensitivity for a couple of days, and then done.

Is the pain I am experiencing coming from air that is now hitting the "exposed" nerve?
Likely an abscess at the root. Bacteria migrate down the crack. Hence the antibiotics.

Hopefully the crack is isolated above the gumline, otherwise you'll buy yourself an implant, which is a real PITA.

Good luck.

your prblem is that the root died and decomposed. I had that happen and no type of painkiller would help. I slept for about 40 minutes over 3 days. Worst pain of my life. I never thought I'd be happy yo get a root canal.

I chipped a molar a couple of weeks ago. Thank goodness no nerve issue.

Since no pain, gonna get it taken care of after the holidays.

Good luck. Tooth pain is a bitch. One of those intangible pains you cant touch.

I've had that. They just drilled through the crown and did the root canal.
Also, I highly highly highly recommend going to a root canal specialist. They make all the difference in the world in how you feel before, during and after. Good luck.

as some have said, go to an endodontist and you will be in good hands. I have had several RCs and the ones I had with a specialist were 1000X better than my dentist.

You want to combine Tylenol with advil, the synergetic effect is very effective on tooth pain but it might not eliminate it.

Remember, doctors in the hospital often give larger doses of pain meds for the first dose to help breakthrough the pain then go to a regular dose on following applications.

I’d suggest staying away from the dentist that gives out 7 triazolams in 30 mins while on gas.

Unless you don’t mind a trip to the ER.

Your life is screwed until that appt. Call tomorrow and see if they can see you Monday or tell them it is hurting worse. They have to see you in that scenario.
