Why would they be surprised if Mikey liked it if he ate everything?
They didn't say he likes everything, they said he'll eat anything.

So he'll eat dogshit even though it's disgusting and he hates it. He tries the Life and he loves it.

That, or it WAS "Luke, I am your father" when Tommy Boy came out and Tommy Boy is now a time capsule attesting to that fact.
which would make little sense, as the older books should still say berenstein and represent "time capsules" of when it were so if that were the case

If history changed so should tommy boy according to the berenstein theory

because that doesn't make any sense. They were saying that if Mikey, who hates everything, likes it then we should like it too. Why would they be surprised if Mikey liked it if he ate everything? Doesn't make sense.

How does it make sense the other way, either? The first two boys are trying to get rid of cereal they don't want to eat. How are they going to get rid of it by giving it to the kid who hates everything?

Apples and oranges. Tommy Boy is a different artwork than Star Wars. The other Berenstein books are other Berenstein books. Star Wars changed, Tommy boy didn't, because they are different things. ALL the Berenstein books changed because they're all Berenstein books.

But they aren't trying to get rid of it.

Tell me more about these 2, especially New Zealand.

A lot of people remember chartreuse as either a shade of blue or similar to or interchangeable with mauve.

A lot of people remember New Zealand as being NE of Australia (it's SE in this universe).

There's also the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, where a lot of people are surprised to hear that there was no Great Pumpkin at all because they remember it appearing above a shivering Linus who had waited all night for it in the pumpkin patch.

It's quite simple. He's younger or was exposed to the books after the change.

genro please.
I'm an elder statesman and grew up with the books.
I attribute my outlier status as being from the fact that I didn't grow up near americanized jewish descents, so wasn't as familiar with the colloquial "steen" pronunciation. So stain was just as natural as stein was to my virgin eyes/ears.

Berenstein was also a cartoon on TV

there were also toys, and backpacks, etc.....all those would remain the same and just the books would change?

They clearly are. Watch it again. There are two boys who are bummed because they don't want to eat this crappy health cereal they are stuck with until one of them has an epihpany that they can feed it to Mikey.

The spelling was changed, again retroactively

It used to be Fruit Loops. This just doesn't even look right at all.

Exactly. And as the guy who made the video in the OP discovered, in the TV guides of the time it was written Berenstein, not Berenstain as it is now, making the TV guides time capsules of the Berenstein Event just as Tommy Boy is a time capsule of "Luke, I am your father".

Apparently it was always Froot Loops, that one got me as well.

Also, it is actually Interview with THE vampire, not Interview with A Vampire.

I had no idea until just now it is... No, I am your father.

And this is coming from someone who loves star wars, but was born after empire came out.

Tommy Boy, and Austin powers use the Luke, I am your father. While popular movies in their own right, just doesn't explain it.

It could be no on remembers the lines between vader saying Luke, and I am your father. Because it was such a reveal. People just cut out the, obi wan never told you part

I rewatched the entire series before TFW and when "the" moment happened I was left dumbfounded. I couldn't believe Vader didn't say Luke. I just brushed it aside until reading this thread.

Yeah I studied those cereal boxes every morning and it was Fruit Loops. I remember a few years ago seeing it in the store with Froot and I thought it was stupid that they changed it. Come to find out they expect us to believe it's always been that way
