Why are you millenials intimidated by a little formality?
Not to mention it's you Facebook types that will video and text everything you see getting people fired when something goes viral.
Emails leave trails and I don't want to get fired, or viewed as unprofessional because I treat work email like some athlete's Twitter account.

There's a middle ground you need to find.
I have one co-worker who starts every e-mail to me with "Dear Mr. LSUBoo" and ends every one with "Cordially yours," which I find to be weird. Dude is in the next office over, literally there is one wall between us, yet he types up e-mails as if he is contacting the Governor or something. It's strange.
On the other hand, don't be that guy that replies with just "k" or "no fricking clue" or something equally informal.
Find the middle ground.
Hey FootballNostradamus,
I don't know the answer to that question, let me know if I can help out in some other way.

You don't have to be overly-formal when interacting with people via email to still be professional. It usually just comes off as pretentious.
Mr. Pecker,
Perhaps your world-view and your opinion on this matter are not commonly shared by others in this company. I would suggest a paradigm shift if you have aspirations of advancement.
Sincerely,
Someone Pretentious

There isn't a single thing you typed that you arrived at through sound logic or reasoning. You sound like the type of guy who people at work don't take seriously.

Yes, TigerDroppings OT is my place of employment and this is the system we use for intra-office correspondence. Your observations are relevant.

I don't think I have any coworkers who are overly formal emails.

I do write formal to clients and it drives me nuts when I write this long, well put together e-mail explaining something and all I get back is "k"

Take solace in the fact that you have explained things clearly and you have left them with no follow-up questions/comments needed.

You could learn from your coworker.
Emails are FOREVER.

It' a CYA thing.
Also we're not all Hillary Clinton where emails just go missing.
