Live in Covington and everyone I know sends their kids to catholic or private schools. All three are great places to live though.

I’m in Diamondhead, give Bay St. Louis a look. Go the restaurant/bars off of Main St. along the Bay sometime on the weekend.

You realize the man you replied to is the current mayor of Covington? If he won’t talk up Covington who will? Lol

It's just way cheaper north of i10. I mean slightly farther to NO.

More for the quality of public schools. Nothing to do with sports
Gaston saying OS for sports is such a stark contrast to 20 years ago
It's also the #1 ranked public high school in the state academically.

best in Louisiana - but still pretty fricking bad, at least from what i've seen so far.
I find myself doing more homework for my kids than I did for myself, as a kid, in the same school district. And my parents were always very supportive, but they were not doing my homework
So they give these kids more work, and a Chromebook. If you can help your kids manage that paradox they will wind up better than you did.

Coastal anywhere is asking for trouble. Insurance rates, floods, hurricanes. In the NE, blizzards and libs, in Cali mudslides, libs, fires and earthquakes, in Pac NW, libs, rain, cold and libs.

Now, regarding Covington, it is one of the coolest cities in the northern hemisphere:
Good lord. LOL
That swishing sound you heard was hyperbole with a hint of facetiousness passing over your head.
Vienna …. Paris …. Covington.
To Elaborate: Centuries of history (OK, just 2), Great cuisines (USA Today named CovLA # 5 Best Food Small town in America) and over 100 free live music acts per year.
And after dinner or catching some live music you return to your car … and it's still there with all its windows.
Vienna …. Paris …. Covington - Not necessarily in that order (swish)

I might be fewer than 5 minutes from there, and I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Covington, Mandeville or Coastal Mississippi?
Go to Bogalusa or Franklinton.
You’re welcome.

I like living in Mandeville but not because I think it’s so wonderful and perfect. To me it’s just nice, normal and safe, and has some other cool features like the lakefront and good amenities, shopping and dining. We do go across the lake fairly often for better shopping and dining options.
Schools have been excellent. Not really anything negative to say at all.
Traffic has gotten really bad. Used to be just certain areas at certain times but now seems everywhere anytime. We pretty strictly avoid Hwy 22 west into Madisonville anytime around rush hour and still check a traffic app other times. I can’t imagine having to make that route every day, backs up for miles and moves very slowly.

Which part of Ocean Springs is sketch? I haven’t found it yet. The city is a utopia. Great schools, culture, food and low crime. I will say the city is growing a little too fast. Real estate costs are going up, but you get what you pay for and it keeps the riff-raff out. It is still relatively small based off the numbers below. The number probably higher than 17k now.
2010 census
edit
As of the 2010 census,[18][19] there were 17,442 people, 6,393 households, and 4,717 families residing within the city. The population density was 1,513.5 people per square mile. There were 7,814 housing units at an average density of 678.3 per square mile. The ethnic makeup of the city was 85.4% White, 7.4% African American, 0.40% Native American, 3.1% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.3% from other races, and 2.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.2% of the population.

Would you say Mandeville has top 3 if not the single best public schools in the whole state?

Trust me I’d buy 10 acres out in franklinton and be as content as can be. The misses isn’t on board with that. She grew up in a small town and never wants to be back in a place like that. Has to have access to amenities.

Gulf Park Estates is ground zero. There are also some sketch neighborhoods north of Hwy 90–Cumberland, the neighborhood behind Winn-Dixie with the homeless encampment, the neighborhood around the hospital. Some issues starting to spill into St. Andrews. Shootings at nightspots like Kahuna’s, downtown, and now The Julep Room. The popularity of downtown is attracting the worst elements from Moss Point, Gautier, and Gulfport. There was even a First 48 where they tracked a killer to a drug house in what looked like GPE. Lots of drugs in the area.
My wife works emergency. Constant GSWs. There’s a decaying underbelly to OS that a lot of people are unaware of.

Gulf Park Estates is county. The people that live back there aren’t even considered in the population of the 17k per the census because GPE isn’t considered part of OS I have lived here my entire life and have only been back there a few times. Nothing wrong with the area just affordable housing and you will have problems with renters from time to time. A good place to buy if you are just starting out. That isn’t anywhere near downtown. Did you mean Rouses with the homeless encampment by the railroad tracks? That hasn’t been there in over a year. The city is proactive and ran them off. Nothing wrong with the area around the hospital. That is one of the only places with affordable housing in the area. That is where you would find your policeman and teacher types living or young families. St. Andrews is basically Gautier and who goes back there? It is basically the boondocks of OS/Gautier. Haven’t heard of any problems back there either. I do wish people from the undesirable cities like Gautier, Moss Point and Gulfport wouldn’t come over, but what can you do? Any issue we have had with shootings has been from the riff-raff of the surrounding cities coming over for the night. At least it has only been other riff-raff shot at this point and the one place the mayor shutdown immediately. Would you ever set foot in Kahunas? Be honest. What city do you live in on the coast?
