(and gangbangers in Covington's case)
That was true a few years ago. A pay increase for PD officers led to a fully staffed department which has blanketed the neighborhood for the past 3 years .. took over 200 guns (and a whole lot of drugs) off the streets and the took the bad guys that had them. What few bad guys that were left fled to Abita Sub and Bogalusa.
Code Enforcement demolished most of the blighted homes.
Faith Based W30s Redemption Company has built 75 new affordable homes (with resident buying the house for ownership).
Public Works cleared and cleaned the road shoulders.
A golf cart ride or walk through the neighborhood today is 180 degrees from what it was in 2020.
— Upfund the police and let them do their job.

I’ve been to the Abbey a few times - very nice setting.
My reference was to St Paul’s. The Benedictines sold the school to the Christian Brothers in the early 1900’s.

This statement reminds me of a gal I dated at LSU.

One of the first things I noticed when I left New Orleans in 2001 were the roads in Mandeville/Covington. Actually felt like I was no longer driving on the surface of the moon... otherwise known as the streets of New Orleans.

I worked at CCC when they opened the Cabana room next to the pool. Great place. Lots of kids.
What a time to be a kid. We made a (kid’s) fortune rescuing golf balls from pailet pond, cleaning them and selling them on the fairway; I’m guessing the pro shop wasn’t too happy about that

White kids still sitting in the bleacher seats waiting to be chosen for the pick up basketball game at Rev. Atkins park.

but good God the traffic is horrendous. Is there anywhere is this God-forsaken state that’s livable?!?
Move south of I12.
Should have done your homework boss.

Posted at 5:12 on a Friday. Yep that’s your damn fault. People are retarded. They find themselves out and about at peak times and then they complain about traffic.
Don’t expect light traffic any time between 7-930 and 3-630 this is true for just about anywhere.

Pro tip; approach downtown from the west on 190 and there’s never any traffic. If heading east on 12 exit at 1077
shhh, don't tell people this and ruin it for the locals.

Pontchartrain Po-boy and DiMartinos both have a better roast beef than Bears. It's not near as good as it used to be.
